If anyone has seen Disney's Beauty & The Beast, there is music during the "prologue" of the film. It is on the soundtrack CD, but this music is actually a classical piece written by a French (?) composer. Anyone know the composer and what it's called?

    TIA,

Prologue is similar to the "Aquarium" piece from Saint-Saens' "Carnival of the Animals." Whether Menken was paying tribute to the French composer, considering the 'French' theme of the movie, or just ripping him off is up to you. :)

I just checked - Saint-Saens is not credited in the soundtrack credits. Soundtracks are not my specialty, but I always liked Beauty. My dad, who knows his showtunes and classical much more than I do, pointed this connection out to me...
