I did a marathon viewing of season 9 on Sunday. Thought it was decent, but not as good as season 8. The part I got the biggest laugh from was the scene where Ricky was listening to 'Rock You' by Helix. Gimme a R....O.....C....K Whatch yah got?.......ROCK Whatcha gonna do?......ROCK YOU!
Are Don and Donna supposed to be two separate people? I assumed that they were supposed to be two personas of the same character. If answering this question is a spoiler thing, please send a PM.
From watching season 8, I assumed that they were the same person with the hots for Randy. Season 9 only has Donna, who is upset with Randy. Apparently it's explained in 8.5.
Spoilers: Donna was Don's sister/cousin (can't remember) who died so Don went nuts and moonlighted as Donna but it seems that alter-ego has taken over. I didn't see much of 8.5 so I don't know the whole story. That guy who plays Don/Donna is pretty funny. No idea who he is, but he's one of the funnier guys to come out of the whole Swearnet scene.
Yeah, I agree. It was kind of annoying at first, but I warmed up to it. When he called crabs the 'hitchhikers of love' I almost burst.
Last I heard is that the show is a go for seasons 10-11 and Netflix already has them under contract. Since it's now a Netflix exclusive (an American company), what would Canadian tax issues have to do with the show? I can't see them stopping TPB over something like that. They know it's their bread and butter. I can't see Swearnet bringing them in tons of money.
While I can see this increasing the cost of the show's production, I can't see them cancelling the show over this. I think the same thing happened with House of Cards in regards to tax credits expiring in Maryland where much of the show is filmed.
I don't know how critical Nova Scotia is to their setting. They've already moved the trailer park location at least once. I still need to sign up for swearnet so I can see what happened to Don(na).
I got a one month subscription so I could download all of the 8.5 episodes. It starts off slow, and while some of it looks unrehearsed even by TPB standards, it picks up and makes a nice addendum to the series. There's definitely a lot of backstory with events leading up to Season 9. If you're a diehard TPB fan it's definitely worth the $4.20 for a one month subscription.
I suppose I'm a diehard TPB fan. I only got into the series in '05 because my now-ex was Canadian and I wanted to watch some Canadian TV together. It turned out the ex couldn't stand TPB but I loved it.
I recently finished seasons 8 and 9 and watched "Don't Legalize It". Season 8 was aight knowwhatimsayin. Season 9 was a D+ as best. I enjoyed "Don't Legalize It".
I thought Season 9 started slow and got much better about halfway through. And I thought Don't Legalize It was a bit slow and a bit of a downer, so we much have opposite tastes in all things TPB!
This show jumped the shark when Randy jumped the cheeseburger, but it still produces a few laugh out loud moments every show.
I agree. I haven't liked any of the movies and the seasons always start out slow and then either finish with a bang or fail completely.
