Go ahead and list some good ones in any genre. I have a few gems that have held up over the years.

Perhaps my favorite Tribute compilation is Stay Awake: Various Interpretations of Music from Vintage Disney Films.

It’s a 1988 tribute album recorded by various artists performing songs from Disney films.

Produced by Hal Willner, it’s one of the many tribute albums he has compiled.

I'm not a big fan of many tribute albums...

Joe Jackson - Jumpin' Jive and The Duke, done from the heart, and for me, I hear it.

    Holly Cole - Temptation

I know some Tom Waits fans hate it, but I thought it brought out his skill as a lyricist for those who might never listen to him as a singer.

I love this version of I Don't Want To Grow Up. I also love the original, and fortunately in this universe one does not negate the other.

Here's an obscure one. It was made by a friend of mine, Tom Dunning, and licensed with a program for limited numbers of copies, so there were only ever 1000 copies.

    I Wanna Be Kate

The most successful covers were the ones that changed things up, like this version of There Goes A Tenner that traded the Cockney slang of the original for American gangsta.
