Good luck finding these, but they are very enjoyable:

Amateur Hour - a Global Tribute to Sparks
Various - Amateur Hour (A Global Tribute To Sparks)

There was another Sparks tribute "A Rainbow Over the Freeway", but it seems to have vanished from the face of the earth.

'Plagiarism' is Sparks' tribute to themselves, so maybe it qualifies. Much easier to find anyway.

Twentieth-Century Blues: The Songs of Noël Coward - fantastic, released in '98 and it's never been out of rotation long.

I admit I didn't know most of the originals but the whole album works. From the obvious who nails it (Elton John) to the wild version that works so well (The Divine Comedy) it's just great.

    I don't know if its streaming or what, but it's a must-hear!

Rush does a surprisingly good job paying tribute to a wide variety of their heroes and influences.

If you haven't checked it out, Carla Bozulich's Red Headed Stranger (recorded with Nels Cline of Wilco) is phenomenal. It's a concept album of a concept album. She's even got Willie on it. Hands down one of the most interesting, memorable concerts I've ever seen (Great American Music Hall, San Francisco, ~2004 a hot minute before Nels Cline announced he was joining Wilco).

They did a decent job on Desperate Times, the Old 97s tribute. But I'm biased as a HUGE Old 97's fan.

Does the I Am Sam soundtrack count here? Forgettable movie, enjoyable Beatles covers.

If I Am Sam counts, then I've got to include the I'm Not There soundtrack as well. But I really enjoyed both movie and Dylan covers.

Mine too. (Introduction and favorite) Bill Frisell's version of Juliet of the Spirits is amazing, and a little hard to find on YouTube since the title's in French.

For me, pretty much any tribute album that does something different with the material.

A couple favorites are the two Song Retains the Name Zeppelin tribute albums, David Murray's Dark Star Grateful Dead tribute album, Us and Them: Symphonic Pink Floyd, the That's the Way I Feel Now Thelonious Monk tribute album, the A Chance Operation John Cage tribute album, etc.

Does John Oswald's Grayfolded -- a like two-hour Plunderphonics reworking of about a bazillion versions of "Dark Star" -- count?
