Generally, I’m not a fan of trilogies. I like films to be complete and if one warrants a sequel, I’d rather it would be a new adventure with the cast. Still I understand there are epic takes that need a trilogy to properly unfold, such as Lord of the Rings.

One trilogy I like a lot is Back to the Future. I love parts 1 and 3 but really hate part 2. I can’t bring myself to buy the recently released 4K because of it.

The Godfather is the obvious one here. I and II are classics, but III, no way.

3 isn’t as good though I still like it. It’s really hard to create three great movies.

Another who hates the Godfather Part III. Actually, hate might not be a strong enough word.

Temple of Doom is way behind the other two.

Indiana Jones is not a triology…

Return of the Jedi, obviously because of the Ewoks.

Trilogy of Terror (1975 - Made for TV). Let's face it, the first two serials pale in comparison to the Zuni fetish doll.

I 100% forgot about Crystal Skull. No court would convict me.

Wim Wenders' "Road Movie" trilogy from the 70s. "Alice In The Cities" and "Kings of the Road" are so beautiful and profound, yet the inbetween film "Wrong Move" just drags on endlessly and feels very incoherent.

I know I'm in the minority here, but actually it's Part III that I have my problems with. Part II is the best of the bunch for me.

I wouldn’t say I hate Before Midnight (2013), but I like it a lot less than the first two installments in Richard Linklater’s Before Trilogy. And the first, Before Sunrise (1995), ranks among my 15 all-time favorite movies.

One of the most shocking things about the invention of the internet was the realization that people didn't like the Ewoks.

I would say the 2nd, Before Sunset, is the best of the Trilogy. Its the one I've seen many times. I've only seen the first one once....it was good. The third one really didn't seem fresh.

The first three Exorcist films would be my submission. The obvious mistake, resulting in number two.

While it is debatable whether The Hobbit should have been made into three excruciatingly long movies, the first two were pretty good while the third one was the meaning of excruciating!

Yep, second one is really good. I especially love the final scene (which sounds like I was relieved it was over, but that’s not what I mean):

Celine: Baby, you are gonna miss that plane.

    Jesse: I know.

(Hope that doesn’t ruin it for those who haven’t seen it. :))

I completely disliked part 2 as well because it seemed very tired, as all it did was rehash the jokes of the first movie. I was surprised that the third one was an improvement

Return of the Jedi was definitely the inferior of the three original Star Wars movie. Whereas the first two movies were driven by human characters, the third relied on Ewoks, mainly for laughs.

II is just simply bizarre. I have tried numerous times to get it, but the film just falls apart halfway through. Not that it was very good to begin with, but had some interesting moments.
