Just saw an article that said David Milch (NYPD Blue, Deadwood) may be involved with season 3. As a huge Milch fan, I'm stoked!
Some more news on Season 3. ‘True Detective’ Close To Season 3 Greenlight; Mahershala Ali Confirmed To Star @Chazro Looks like David Milch is onboard working with Pizzolatto
found season one a huge disappointment. It started off well and looked like it would be something different but just turned into an ordinary cops and crime drama by the end. Didnt even bother with season 2 because of that.
Sidetracked with the Game Of Thrones Spinoffs link within the TD article initially. Yeah ..great, TD Season 3 bring it on. Have to admit I must be one of the few that really liked True Detective 2.
It is called "True Detective". I mean what else was it supposed to be? "Supernatural Detective"? Never the less, you made the right decision on S2. Not good.
I'm going to re-watch S2. At the time, I found it hard to keep straight and by the end I just didn't care. I think it will likely make more sense seeing it straight through over a few days. I still don't expect to like it anywhere near as much as S1.
I remember genuinely thinking that three episodes into season one the crime was going to be something I'd truly never seen before and was on the edge of my seat to see how it unfolded. I felt it ended up being quite run of the mill and was disappointed.. Still enjoyed it and season 2 less so, some of the dialogue was laughable. After a quick google search for examples looks like I'm not the only one The True Detective Season 2 Quotes That Almost Made Us Switch Off
My default position is not to bother with S3 after the S2 debacle (and even the much praised S1 had some very rough edges). I might watch if it gets a good director and good reviews.
I liked season 2 but James Ellroy is my favorite author and there were major similarities between that season and Ellroy's books. Check out the article here calling it a Ellroy ripoff: Is True Detective season 2 a James Ellroy rip-off?
My favorite is still "This contract has signatures all over it!" That will live forever in the annals of bad TV dialogue.
Yep. The last thing I need is the opinion of wannabe directors/screenwriters who often miss that, in the end, it's just entertainment.
Yes, the first season was very good. The second season not as good. So I'll give it a try and see what I think rather than what the frustrated filmmakers think.
Season 2 sucked so bad that I have very little enthusiasm for the upcoming try. I'll watch... but I'm giving very little slack for suckiness.
Wow, I can't see how S2 could possibly rate TWO notches below S1! If S1 rated a 100, THAN, maybe, S2 would get an 8!
