The best thing about this season is reading all of the negative comments on
    X. Some of them are just fantastic (unlike the actual show).

The stuffed polar bear toy like the real polar bear only had one eye. But what does it mean…?

And curiously, it looks like its left eye was shot out of its skull.

Agree with both your views. Thought episode 4 was excellent; same with the music. And yes, we have friends who’ve hidden behind the couch at times…We’re now just into season 3. Seems to me that one of the key points in each of the series is that it’s about relationships as much as the story. Woody Harrelson and Matthew McConaughey in S1; Colin Farrell and Rachel McAdams and “Frank” and his wife in S2; Ali and his partner in 3. That’s partly why it’s nicely different.

Thanks for the heads up. Makes sense to avoid putting it out in SuperTaylor Sunday.

I guess Nic Pizzolatto has come out and said that he has nothing to do with Season 4 and isn't happy with it.

That's a pretty ignorant thing for him to say especially while the show is still running. What a class act.

And that’s a good thing. That guy sucks. Clearly HBO ditched him because seasons two and three were garbage compared to season one.

I didn't care for season two but I liked season three. Season one is my favorite out of all four seasons so far even though four has one episode left. I never really got into season four but it's still better than two.

Scene where they dug a hole in the sea ice, a shark surfaces, and Jodie Foster jumps over it on skis was a little too on the nose.

Episode 5 plays out like we all expect True Detective to go down. I am back in for the finish.

Episode 5 was the best yet. Looking forward to seeing how they resolve all of this.

The story is a mess, but I'll watch just for Jodie Foster. Will the sun come up when it's all over?

I was giving up on the season after episode 4, but episode 5 kinda pulled me back in.

A few things struck me last night while watching the most recent episode:

Danvers and Navarro badly covered up a crime scene they were directly involved in,

We see their sex lives, and in Danvers' case at least, it is a clear workplace conflict,

Navarro leaves the guy "waiting by the window" so to speak, pleading with her to "Please just come back" as she goes off to the denouement of the story. Navarro is also willing to throw hands against just about anybody, including fellow cops.

Danvers and Navarro also leave the deputy to clean up the murder scene at Danvers', literally to mop up the blood while they go presumably solve the case.

Would people have as much a problem with this season if the gender roles were reversed, and Danvers & Navarro were played by men?

Yah we have never seen a show where the main male lead is irresistible to women for some reason and sleep with all of the attractive women they meet.

I know a big part of this show is the protesting of the mining operation but in a barren place like the town of Ennis, wouldn’t they be their biggest employer? But of course the mine is there for dramatic purposes.

Yes they employ a lot of people but if it’s making their drinking water undrinkable and causing stillborn deaths then it’s not exactly a net positive.
