Tubi TV - Weird aspect ratio

So, I just discovered that Tubi has Family, one of my favorite shows. Only the short first season and second season came out on DVD, plus a couple of best of sets in Germany. Now I'm looking at it on my CRT set and it isn't in a fake 16x9 widescreen thank goodness and its not one of those things where there are black bars around all four sides. But the image looks squished. What are they doing to the picture?

 

tbh i havent noticed this with anything on Tubi. Is it just that show?

 

I also noticed Highway to Heaven looks remastered, and has more image on the left and right sides of the picture, but is missing information on the top and bottom.
