Thanks for the links. Yeah, same here, the 721 is still new to me. I’m in the process of repairing and changing some things out, one of which is getting a new headshell/sled (TK24) to mount a new cartridge on. Looks like I'll need pan head style being the sled locks into the headshell and hides the screw mount holes.
Your price range is good. I have about 350 in my Project but I got lucky and found a demo. I'm cheap but not absurd. I won't sacrifice quality for price. Your price range includes the Rega Planar 1. Read about it. It could be what you need. It's what I'd have grabbed if I wanted to spend 250 more dollars.
