I [still*] want to revamp my dad's system to simplify, the key being a TV with variable analog audio output. I will run that into a power amp, so instead of a separate remote for the receiver volume, he can just use the TV remote. (The loss of fidelity will hopefully not be huge, and in any case swamped by the need to simplify for an elderly person).

In particular I'm wondering if a Vizio E50-E3 would have this-I could not tell by looking at the manual.

Current TV is a 5ish year old Samsung 46", so I figure any new 50-55" good brand should look better; I love our Vizio M60-C3 but not sure if the new ones still have variable audio. Also price is a definite consideration for this project; the E50-E3 is just $399 right now* and a 55" $499.
