The internet (as seen through the eyes of a Twin Peaks fan) is exploding right now due to this Tweet simultaneously posted by Twin Peaks co-creators David Lynch & Mark Frost:
Wow. Honestly I expected to drop in here and read (more) bullplop, but...those tweets are mysterious, indeed!
An über-fan hacked both accounts?!? Heh. I hope not. If anything does happen, I sure hope it is a free-and-clear of any artistic, etc. requirements or restrictions....
They do have a built in justification for returning to it -- in the original Red Room scene Laura Palmer tells Agent Cooper "I'll see you in 25 years." And lo and behold, next year it will be 25 years since the show premiered.
Didn't Kyle Maclachlan just sign on for a new TV series? I could see a short web series or something. I just don't see Lynch coming back to network TV after how Twin Peaks and then Mulholland Drive went down.
I'm not watching, but I think he was to appear in the latest episode of Agents Of SHIELD. I don't know if its a recurring role or not. Twin Peaks coming back? I almost don't think it could live up to expectations. But WOW BOB WOW!
Wow. That would be great. I'll have to get out my DVD box set and revisit the original series. Someone here where I work mentioned that Twin Peaks TV show just appeared in the new section on Netflix.
Honestly, as tantalizing as the idea is, continuing the story after such a long time would be pretty challenging. Has Cooper been possessed by BOB for 25 years? That's pretty depressing. Speaking of which, they have the problem that the actor who played BOB died many years ago.
I worry this will be a Netflix thing and then I'll need to figure out how to see Netflix...whatever that is!
Twin Peaks to return to TV on Showtime as 8 episode run written by Lynch/Frost directed by Lynch. Possible announcement Monday. #rumor https://twitter.com/TwinPeaksArchve/status/518133096743710721 Let me stress, this is a RUMOR.
Showtime would be awesome! Forget the contraints of network TV or even cable networks that still have to deal with sponsors like FX or AMC. Premium cable is the place to go.
"Gentlemen, when two separate events occur simultaneously pertaining to the same object of inquiry we must always pay strict attention."
Remember when David Lynch asked on Twitter last month or so if anyone knows where Everett McGill (Big Ed) could be found? This is all looking VERY interesting!
I don't agree. They don't have to use the same characters, just tell great stories. Maybe some creative cameos from previous cast members would be nice. But "continuing the store after such a long time" opens up so many possibilities. Too many important cast members are gone, most importantly Frank Silva (Bob).
Well not really. The only other significant cast members who have died are Jack Nance (Pete) and Don Davis (Major Briggs). Though I doubt they'd want the cast to be full of seniors so I probably wouldn't expect the oldest ones like Richard Beymer, Piper Laurie and Russ Tamblyn to return. Of course even Michael Ontkean is nearly 70!
