Well I did tend to fast forward past them, since they were often just before the end credits and nothing happened, storywise. So I don’t know if they were new recordings or album versions.
I would think so. So it would be the full-length mimed performances, as directed by Lynch of course. I guess that's pretty cool, but I'd rather have bonus footage of Harry Dean Stanton singing and playing guitar!
Not sure if I’ll get this—the Roadhouse performances could be compelling if they include any additional shots of characters. If it’s only more of the bands miming on stage, I’ll pass. The behind the scenes footage could be cool. I’m torn!
I don't think every performance was mimed on set. I think some of them were live but overdubbed after the fact. Didn't Julee Cruise get pissed off on Facebook that her performance was overdubbed?
No she got pissed off because her appearance was edited down to only a few seconds. She also said DL treated her very poorly on set (insults, etc.).
It's weird, I hear almost nothing but universal praise for how Lynch treats his cast/crew, with the exception of Julee Cruise and Michael Anderson.
Considering that so many actors choose to work with him again and again, he must be doing something right. I mean, I never have heard him mentioned in the same breath as notoriously hard to work with directors, such as David O. Russell, for example.
And while I certainly don't know the truth of it all, having read the complaints/rants by Cruise and Anderson, I am of the opinion they both need some kind of psychological help.
She ranted about it the day the episode aired, but if you look through her Facebook feed she went back to posting pictures of Lynch and promoting his foundation pretty quickly.
What's crazy to me is that Julee's appearance was perfectly timed and both incredibly moving and mysterious. I would have been proud to be a part of that cinematic moment.
I was disappointed and quite surprised they didn’t record a new song with her. We waited the whole series for her to finally appear in the Roadhouse and she just mimed to a song from the old show (I love the song but... it’s old). Although, I guess if there were personal issues it’s not such a surprise.
If there’s an Ollie’s Bargain Outlet near you, they’re selling Mark Frost’s ‘Twin Peaks The Final Dossier’ book for $3.99.
