Yeah I missed some of the final episodes for that reason. I think it wasn't until the Bravo reruns that I caught them

I hadn’t seen the tv series. So was unfamiliar with characters. Loved the movies bizarre edge.

It is challenging enough (in a good way) to watch it after watching the series.

There are some interesting moments in the film, but surprisingly the film offered very little new information. We get to see that last part I’d Laura’s life. But even then, we were watching things we already knew from the series.

I still haven’t forgotten about creating the David Lynch thread!

I'm trying to find a place to put it, but I don’t know where.

So I finally got to watch the 4k disc from the A to Z box set... I now salivate at the thought of a full 4k release.

That spring of 1991 was memorable for me, since the series was getting so good again during the last six episodes. Then it was put on hiatus for the second time that year, with the final two shown as a "movie" on June 10th. That final hour in the Black Lodge is still one of the greatest episodes of television I've ever seen.

That last episode and the one where Maddie is killed are some of Lynch's best works.

I still can’t believe those two episodes were shown on prime time TV in 1991. They’re as brutal and terrifying as anything on HBO now. The episode where BOB/Leland kills Maddie disturbed me when I first saw it. They had to shoot that scene with three different actors as BOB to throw the crew off to the big reveal of his true identity. Sheryl Lee is a genius. One of the most underrated actors ever.

I always thought the eight hours total he directed from the Original Series was the best work he'd ever done (next to Blue Velvet and Mulholland Dr.).

I am currently re-watching the original series for the sixth or seventh time and just last night I saw the episode where Maddy gets killed. What a fantastic series! However, the older I get the more I notice how great some performances were (Leland, Donna, Shelley) while others seem stiff and uncomfortable (Audrey, Josie, Bobby).

When "The Return" aired on Showtime, and the opening ran for nearly 30 seconds of just wind sounds, and images of Laura and the trees... I held my breath. That is, until the distinct twang of the first note of Badalamenti's timeless theme rang out. It felt like home.

    Bravo e grazie, Maestro.
