There have been countless threads on one hit wonders but what about the two hit wonders? To qualify an artist must have had no more than two top 40 hits in a specific country.

Example and one of my favorites is Peter Sarstedt who had two top 10 hits in the UK.

The Five Man Electrical Band. Lots of people assume that they were just a one-hit wonder ("Signs"), but this little gem also hit the Top-40:

  8. Two Sheds

Two Sheds Sha La La La Lee

The Bobby Fuller Four - 'I Fought the Law' (made it to #9), and their other hit, 'Love's Made a Fool of You,' which stopped at #26 in the US Hot 100.

I was gonna mention this band but the second tune I was gonna call out was “Werewolf.” It wasn’t as big a hit in the US but it did quite well in Detroit courtesy of Windsor’s CKLW AM Top 40. I still have the 45.

Do the Waterboys count? "The Whole Of The Moon" and "Fisherman's Blues" are both popular enough that I honestly can't tell which is bigger. But could a non-fan name another song?

Edward Bear was a two-hit wonder in the U.S., though they had more success in their native Canada.

Theirs was a rare instance of a sequel being a much better song than the one it followed up. "Close Your Eyes" only made it to #37, but it's brings the story of "Last Song" to a touching conclusion.

After 3 unsuccessful albums with their previous band (Pages), Richard Page and his buddy Steve George changed everything and suddenly hit the charts twice with their new outfit in the middle of the 80s.
A great n° 1 album and 2 incredibly well written and arranged songs.

"Absolutely Right" you are! For me this follow-up was a killer song and record, extremely clever songwriting, great self-deprecating lyric and the music kicks ass! Still love it, and happily it ended up on Rhino's "Have A Nice Day" with its predecessor.

Still have a soft spot for Broken Wings, especially the instrumental outro. But Kyrie lets me want to talk on the big white telephone.

  22. I was about to mention Del Shannon, then realized he had three Top-Ten singles...

(And, yes, I'm using Top-Ten instead of Top-Forty as my standard.)
