U2’s best asset has always been the fact that they’re an exceptionally great rock band when it comes to experimenting and taking chances and not doing what the fans expect or perhaps even want. That can be as simple as the fact that from Boy through ATYCLB they never really repeated themselves and often reinvented their sound completely. Their biggest drawback has more lately been not recognizing this as their biggest asset!

39,90€ is the regular price in Germany. Roughly $46 and ten Euros more than the black version. No idea why somebody felt they sh/could offer it that expensive.

I think this is the new manager (Guy Madonna) - things have seemed different to me since Paul M. retired.

Found a sealed 2009 deluxe version yesterday. A 64 page book with inserted album cd, 5€! I guess this will serve as stop gap until prices for the new vinyl are sinking. 39€ is just too much.

This album sounds so much better on LP than cd on my modest system.

I have a new appreciation of it (although I still hate the Boots song!).

fmfxray373 Capitol LPs in the 70s were pretty good.

    This is a fantastic album.
I just got the clear vinyl.

I bought the CD in 2011 on a trip to the Philippines. Then I bought the 2009 LP online for about $35 when I got back home. Never have opened it.

Is the white vinyl Songs of Innocence as quiet at this clear NLOTH?

The white SOI and blue SOE are both very quiet and very well mastered.

Second this. I just wish I liked the songs on SOE as much as the mastering. Lol. The record sounds fantastic.

Is it correct that the 10th anniversary clear vinyl LP doesn't come factory sealed?

Yes I know but is the whole shebang unsealed? The PVC wallet is open at one end and the gatefold sleeve is unsealed?

The outer PVC wallet is no proof against being opened or played. There's no reason why either the outer sleeve or inner gatefold can't be sealed.

I was thinking of buying this on vinyl, a private seller has it cheap(er) and claims it to be unplayed but with no cellophane I'm not going to take that chance. I'll buy it from a retailer.

Blimey, ten years old, bought this when it first came out, played it once, it's been "gathering dust" ever since.

Yes, yes, and more yes. The problem is that not even their fanbase aknowledges this and would rather them sounding like ATYCLB again and again. Or like something else that's on the mainstream radio waves at the time.

It's their last great creative outburst IMO. Half of it is really top drawer U2.

update: i just received a copy from amazon.com that was shrink wrapped under the pvc sleeve. it was extremely difficult to slide out.

Grahamstuartcanada We play two kinds of music “new” and “wave”

Why? Why have they abandoned the earlier albums that deserved this revisiting...I really would have loved zooropa, passengers, pop getting some love... I could care less about most of what they done from HTDAAB on...

Zooropa and Pop have both been reissued on vinyl (with coloured variants as well). It’s only Passengers that is missing now.

And the Zooropa and Pop are two of the best sounding, well pressed and mastered albums in my collection.

First half of it isn’t bad, way better than the two more recent offerings .
