So, some of you know I have been experimenting with JBL Professional 3678 as a contender up against my Cornwall II. Long short story short, the JBLs won out after all said and done. Issue? Some call them ugly. Show me your ugly speakers. Beauty is in the ear of the listener...
Baby's Asses! So classic! (At least, that's what my friends at JBL called them). The oddest speakers I ever saw I believe were called "Gin Sound"-a big old room at CES, speakers with a horn portion literally like a child's gold chrome plastic tuba. Not for HF, somehow doing something with the bass. They didn't sound awful or anything but I felt really bad for these deluded guys spending a LOT of money for that show.
When you sat in the room with my old Pro JBL/McIntosh system you could swear you were face to face with the communications array on the deck of a destroyer! I loved it.
My proac DT8s. they just look weird. Lmao. Not my room. But I have the same exact speakers and color.
I personally hate how modern “audiophile” gear looks so I think those are actually quite attractive speakers... They could do with a touch of wood veneer but otherwise
@Ntotrar your speakers look fine to me. However, I don't think the lighting in your room is doing any favours to them. I might also be tempted to stand them on a few bricks and bring them out into the room a foot or two. Then you could light behind them! But that's just me.
I’ve never owned ugly speakers, thank goodness. But some of the newer, very high-end, ‘organic/melty’-shaped ones definitely bug me. AKA bad modern art sculpture. It’s like, who the eff thinks that looks good? .
Get some colour on the walls and ditch the brown/beige carpet (and lighting) and your speakers will look fine .
Not my speakers, but I hate the looks of most Wilsons. Reminds me of hi-tech trash/recycling bins or liquor store ATM machines.
