The Longpigs had a terrific single called ‘I Lost Myself’. Intrigued to know if the album’s any good.
Well worth acquiring. I bought it back in the 90s but it somehow went AWOL ‘I Lost Myself’ is on the album together with a couple more singles ‘She Said’ and ‘Far’. Richard Hawley plays guitar and does backing vocals.
this weeks bits-n-bobs for £3.50 : Electric Six - Fire The Gaslight Anthem- The '59 Sound Groove Armada - Vertigo Bloc Party - Intimacy Delphic - Acolyte Alt-J - This is All Yours to be fair, none of this lot are any of my want lists, but they are all cds I rarely see for 50p/£1, so thought i'd crack on. I was dreading the overplayed 'gay bar gay bar' track by Electric 6, I enjoyed the album a lot more than I expected.
Depeche Mode - New Life (limited edition French 12") Just Can't Get Enough (UK 12") Teardrop Explodes - Passionate Friend (UK 12") Ultravox - Rage In Eden (UK LP) all excellent condition vinyl & sleeves. £9 for them all.
Actually grabbed a couple of things today... Stereo MCs' Connected (amazing album, got it back when it came out but it left with an ex girlfriend years ago... Been waiting ages to turn up a chazzer for £1 - today was the day and in great nick). Happy Mondays' Loads... And Loads More (the limited edition double disc - got it for a couple of tracks I don't already have on CD. Again, pretty good nick and only £2).
A couple of interesting discs (at least interesting to me; 50p each). Louis Clark - Hooked on Classics (early CD made by Denon in Japan [matrix is on the inner plastic hub in small letters/numbers]; it came in a smooth sided, patent pending '2' case with bar stoppers, so at least the case will be useful ). Thinking about it, this CD came out in late 1983 or early 1984, around the time I got my first record player as a kid and before I even saw a CD. Elaine Paige - Love Hurst (early CD [late 1984?] made by Polygram in West Germany). Also picked up a copy of CDs for their cases (25p each). Various - Country & Western Vol. 1 (nice MPO case with bar stoppers). Not a bad selection of tracks by the looks of it. A Splash of Oldish Spice (no clue what's on this one, but it is still sealed). Left The Thrills So Much for the City and The Verve Urban Hymns.

Two of our local charity shops seem to have been cursed to have at least one Lost Prophet cd or Kerrang comp containing them since he was exposed/charged. BHF had one of their albums right at the front of their window display just as allegations broke
I was in the charity shop that has 4 CDs for a £1, or £1.95 each, and a totally choice of about 30 CDs. Becomes a right pain if they only have one 1CD you want... (Big Star's Sister Lovers/The Third Album). I ended up picking up 3 other CDs that probably stand a good chance of ending up back at a charity shop (Chill With Bach, Bernstein's America, and Jay Z/Kanye West's Watch The Throne)
Oh the PC Police rides again . He was pursued by her, and he didn't even know her age. Choice quotes: "At the time I was just so happy to be on his arm. I was young and he was famous. All I cared about was that I could make all my school friends jealous. "I was insecure and impressionable. I suppose I used him for his fame and he used me for sex."
When that happens to me I choose the others by the quality of the jewel cases, to swap with some of my poor ones, then donate them back again.
Struck out at two charity shops today, but there was a lovely old dog in one of them so not a total waste of time!
