Looking to purchase some records that are hard to find in North America (electronic records mostly)and with the Canadian dollar so low, looking for places that can ship cheaply to Canada and eliminate the VAT. I was looking at Juno and a few others but they do not eliminate the VAT.

    Any suggestions?

    I assume you tried Amazon.co.uk?

You might want to give these guys a try: Home Page : June Records » based in Toronto and recently opened an online store in addition to their b&m shop. They do carry some electronic records and they do also order stuff in for customers.

In the UK... Boomkat: Independent Music Specialist selling Vinyl, CD’s, Cassettes and Downloads worldwide » is great for electronic stuff. They don't remove VAT (at least they didn't) but they're postage charges are very reasonable. I noticed some UK sellers don't remove vat but they appear to compensate for that by charging less in shipping.

Welcome to Rough Trade » does remove VAT and the postage charges have been reasonable. Though Boomkat.com has a better electronic selection.

Yeah very familiar with Amazon.co.uk. Looking for more independent suggestions.

Very familiar with June and Boomkat. I guess I should have been more specific about what type of electronic music I am talking about. Essentially looking for releases from Moodhut, International Feel and Music from Memory. More Balearic/New Ageish/Deep House stuff that is usually pressed in smaller runs and tough to get in North America let alone for reasonable prices.

The shops most notable to carry these types of releases are Juno Records, Phonica and Picadilly Records. At times Norman and Rough Trade will have them as well but generally unlikely.

Thanks for reminding me about Music from Memory. I came across a Gigi Masin cd ages ago and bookmarked the site but haven't really thought about it since.

Can't really help you much further though.

HHV.de does not charge VAT to extra-EU orders but while they do carry a bunch of electronic music, I'm not really sure you'll find stuff that matches your needs

Actually there are a few things on the International Feel, Music from Memory and Hell Yeah Records I have been looking for on there. The 10 euro voucher (for joining their mailing list) is a nice way to eat up some of the shipping as well. Thanks for the tip!

    Glad to hear that.
I've always had excellent service from them and they deserve all the support in the world.
They also have a nice shop in Friedrishain, Berlin, where you can pick up orders made online.

Just want to give a bump to see if there are any other online EU stores that people know of that will deduct the VAT from the sales price.

I did place my first HHV order and is due to land next week. The on,y issue is the shipping cost (19.99 euros) which is not bad for a big order which I placed though not practical if you only want 1 or 2 LPs. Any suggestions would be appreciated :)

Just as a follow-up to this if anyone else is looking for options with no VAT and reasonable shipping, I got charged with a big customs charge upon receiving my order from HHV ($50 CAD).

I have also since ordered from Red Eye Records which has been a great experience as they do not charge VAT, shipping was not too painful and never got dinged with customs charges.

@thebunk did HMV UK use Royal Mail to send the package or a courier service of some type? Just curious since you got hit with charges.
