After waking up this morning and still mourning for my baby, I began to realize about my own mortality. If I die today, all the things I have including my system, my car collection and even my bank account will be in the glory of the next guy. So I say to myself "No more cheap this time.." I have listened and re-recorded this Ultravox albums a handful of times with playback of god knows how many... Its time for me to re-record this and crack my best sounding TDK of all time (circa 1982).
I imagine this isn't news for most who care You know I would start a Foxx album by album thread if I could even come close to knowing enough of the work he did - I'm convinced either Metamatic or Vienna is the best LP of that year "We have some disappointing news about The Garden & Church. There are significant vinyl production issues which are impacting on our releases. We’ve now reset the release dates to late Sep '21, but at the moment we’re being warned there could be further delays. Apologies."
It appears from a Twitter post yesterday, that a recording of the 2019 Midge Ure ‘1980 Tour’ is being mixed for release.
A few weeks ago I picked up a reasonably-priced copy of the debut Ultravox album in a second hand shop. It's a reissue with the gatefold sleeve reduced to a single sleeve (thus missing out most of the album information) - the sleeve is a bit tatty anyway and the label on side two is the most off-centre I've ever seen (the stylus catches it in the run-off groove). But the record plays fine, and what an album it is! It sounds incredible for 1977. I know that "The Lonely Hunter" didn't get a lot of love on here, but I like it. Is there any earlier example of this kind of post-punk (almost) funk style? "The Wild, The Beautiful and the Damned" is a phenomenal song. Also picked up a copy of Foxx's The Golden Section last week, and that sounds pretty good as well!

Damn, one of those comp discs that does a good job of capturing what bands actually sound like, not just singles John Foxx and Visage are both here, and despite it's unknown status for a lot of people they pulled a track from YMOs BGM - lots and lots of only album tracks all around
By the way... in the 1981 BBC Live, I like most of the version they made especially All Stood Still. The music production is more musical analog than the LP version.
I picked up a second-hand copy of Ha! Ha! Ha! today - it's the 1981 reissue with the coloured bubble labels. I think it's got the wrong version of "ROckwrok", on it - the almost-mono single mix. It sounds very different to the fully-stereo version I've got on Three Into One. I notice there was a mention of different mixes of this track earlier in the thread, but can anyone confirm which version should be on the album? Some of the other tracks (e.g. "The Frozen Ones", "Distant Smile" (the fast bit)) are also lacking in stereo separation and bass - was this the intended sound of the album? (It is a great album, though, regardless of the sound) Also completed my Foxx 80s collection by finding In Mysterious Ways. Haven't listened to it yet - and I maybe shouldn't expect too much given the reviews I've read - but we'll see.
I found In Mysterious Ways rather interesting - there is some good stuff, and some bad, but there's also some long meandering songs that sound as though he's channeling mystic Van Morrison but with more electronic instruments! I found it surprising and very interesting!
Rage In Eden (2021 Reissue, Super Deluxe, 5 CDs + DVD) von Ultravox Rage In Eden 5CD + DVD set for February 18 2022
Very exciting, and I'm looking forward to seeing a track list. If anyone starts a thread about this release, please let us know! Now the big question, do they carry on to U-Vox? Brilliant?
Ultravox / Three Into One | Rubellan Remasters For those interested, I just got the Ultravox 'Three Into One' colored vinyl LP today. Pre-orders open on Tuesday, October 12th with a release date of Friday, November 5. What's the news on our Ultravox new album. Very anxious. I hope Midge and Warren are gonna surprise us with some new vintage gig videos we never seen before. All the boys are wearing blue tonight...
