Your beauty so enticed me, I could not pass it by, So it's with my gun I'll guard you All on the mountains high. And if by chance you should look for me, Perhaps you'll not me find, For I'll be in my castle, Inquire for Reynardine." Sun and dark she followed him, His teeth did brightly shine, And he led her up a-the mountains, Did that sly, bold Reynardine.
RIP Kofi Burbridge. I’m seriously bummed about this. That dude was amazingly talented. I met him after a DTB show in maybe 2003ish? Just the nicest guy too. And he passed on the same day the new TTB album came out. That seems like some Col. Bruce influenced stuff, as if one can control it. But man... this is a real bummer.
Sad to hear that he passed but I knew that he was sick. Oteil is his brother. My thoughts go out to friends and family. Let the music play!
I keep meaning to break out her Wrecking Ball cd, everytime while flipping through that I see it, I pass, but want to play the awesome record. I need to be more disciplined and diligent for goodness sake. Last night through this AM a few various and sundry picks from the day. Some Burritos with and without GP, both live from the Avalon Ballroom in '69 and MSG in '70; Johnny Cash~American Recordings; some Dead (posted elsewhere); Van the Man~No Guru; others include a rock'n Ry Anthology, very good Steel Pulse record, and ...
Waylon Jennings live 1978 on DVD. Mooney is in top form behind the pedal steel and ol Waylon looks pretty good. It's a cool rockin show that goes great with a couple of Johnnie Walkers and coke

Made a giant Iron Maiden "random" anthology set a few years back ala the 1991 Led Zeppelin box set. A couple discs of the original Bruce and Dianno material, one disc for Blaze, then another couple discs for the "Reunion" era I paid really close attention to flow and sequencing and each disc is under 80 minutes (well, aside from the Blaze one...) I was trying to be creative Anywho, I really like what I came up with and, for me, they are a great listen Disc 1: 1. Be Quick Or Be Dead 2. Tailgunner 3. Another Life 4. Sun and Steel 5. The Prisoner 6. Heaven Can Wait 7. Moonchild 8. Powerslave 9. No Prayer For the Dying 10. Fear Is the Key 11. Can I Play With Madness 12. Transylvania 13. The Ides Of March 14. Wrathchild 15. Rime Of The Ancient Mariner
The Airplane was sort of coming undone, it was 1972 in all of its magnificently burned, confounded glory. But it's still one of my favorite live records... admirably sloppy in places and really grand in others. Trial By Fire is one of my all time favorite live renditions by the band--Jorma is on fire too. Even in '72, the cellar-dweller releases sound great now. The expansion of this one made it better, a remaster with some extras. A bucolic early evening setting makes the music and the dirty Sobi martini, well, how can I say this... bucolic. The sunset is cover art perfect, no toasters with clocks flying across the sky... yet. But the port wine cheese and crackers will do in a pinch.
They released the Island Anthology 1974-78, a four disc set some time ago. Some of their best material, the complete Kites, Waves, Way of the Sun and Floating World remastered and sounding fine. For me it even sounds better now than it did before, great stuff. NP... Herbie headhunts up some cool, spacy funk.
