Farther Along: The Best of the Flying Burrito Bros. This is the only Burrito Bros. album I have, a 2 CD set. Man, The Eagles are such a "me too" band.
I also recommend the following album by the Jimmy Giuffre 3, Thesis, which is more atonal and experimental.
I spent 30 bucks at CDJapan so I could have Ode To Joy with the bonus track. Last night I listened to the first four tracks of the U.S. CD.
That is the question in the air. Of course not! But there are larger issues at work here, undefined and unspoken.
Tommy may be on many people’s “overplayed in my youth so never listen anymore” list but I just checked and can happily report that it’s still an amazing journey. See what I did there?
I don't have a single album in that list. Do people really get fed up with an album at such a level that they don't play it anymore?
A fantastic album. The first time I heard it I was spun. I was hanging out at a buddies house and we got into his parents record collection. It was indeed quite the journey.
I’m not sure I have any albums on that list either, although there are certainly things I used to play a lot that I haven’t played in years. But that’s not really due to burn out. I mentioned that in relation to Tommy because there’s a thread on The Who’s new album where people are rating their discography, and while Tommy gets high marks I saw a few comments like “overexposure has gotten to me” and “I don’t really ever want to hear it anymore”.
There's some music I don't listen to anymore, but not because I overplayed it. Actually, my musical taste changed and that's it. There are albums I have played thousands of times and I still love them. In spite of the first sentence of this post, I must admit I can't give an example of music I don't listen to anymore. My musical scope gets wider as years go by.
