One of the best cruisin' instrumentals Carlos Santana with The Fabulous Thunderbirds "Lightnin'" from the solo Carlos Santana album Havana Moon (Columbia 1983) Carlos Santana: Guitars Jimmy Vaughan: Guitars Booker T. Jones: Keuboards Kim Wilson: Harmonica Fran Christina: drums Keith Ferguson:Bass
I saw Squirrel Nut Zippers live once around the time that this album was a hit. It was at a little outdoor amphitheater next to the Rose Test Garden in Portland, OR which is a neat venue. I’d totally forgotten about this album, I should give it a listen.
I bought an import disc in the last couple of years that had both American Son and RCO Allstars on it. Worth every penny IMO. PM if I can be of assistance in procurement.
Santana Borboletta - a thread favorite and with good reason. Promise Of A Fisherman just stopped me in my metaphorical tracks.
if you havent already preordered Dawn of the New Riders of the Purple Sage -Pre-Release Sale, shipping now, here exclusively until Jan 10! - Owsley Stanley Foundation and this
Lee Morgan - Since I fell for you. That sound man. Makes you wanna be at a bar in America at night with some friends, drunk and stoned and happy.
Another beautiful Santana album. This is where my interest in the band ends, by the way. Miles' "lost" quintet live in Stockholm, 11/5/69. Chick's Fender Rhodes breaks during the first piece of the concert and the band is forced to return to an all-acoustic environment. Possibly the last Miles Davis acoustic set ever!
Frank Zappa „Hot Rats”. They’ve been selling those 2008 vinyl in a cheap food market chain here in Poland (I’m sure Frank would have a laugh bout it) so I grabbed a copy . Some magic going on here, perfect for friday night beverages
Tower of Power, Back to Oakland. Seems wrong listening to it at work in SF rather than back at home in Oakland... Listened to Mark Lanegan, Whiskey for the Holy Ghost before that. I love his solo stuff, although have to admit I haven't kept up with the last few.
Are you polish or do you just live there? Not to many eastern europeans in these threads. Haven't been Poland myself but my friends and family really like it. Na zdrowie!
I’m Polish, born in Silesia, living in Gdynia and Sopot at the seaside since 10 years. Like every country, there are some great things and some not so much, but Gdynia, Gdansk, Sopot (called Tricity here) is a very great place to live
I’m going to give Moonflower from 1977 a try at some point. I read that it’s a mix of studio and live tracks but I don’t know what it’s like.
Must have so weird for all the jazz cats playing northern europe in the 60s to a very polite and stiff audience. But they listened!
I like it quite a bit, but might be slighly biased toward it because it was one of the first of his that I heard back in high school.
Deep Purple „Burn”. When Ritchie was in the mood, he was beyond any competition. His solos on this album amaze me every time. Mistreated kicking in right now...
Oh, yes, Lotus is the awesome live testimony from that period. The extended 3-cd edition is terrific.
