No, no, no! The new thread sensation all the hep cats are flipping for: Murder Most Foul - New Bob Dylan Song
Hovercraft! I like them a lot more than the other band...even better was the other band they were kind of related to, I can't think of their name....I'll get back to you
Magnog!!! They were great. I think they're related to Hovercraft, at least with minimal Kevin Bacon. That's the real music of Seattle, bub!
I bought that album early on in my exploration of both Dylan and the Dead. It almost stopped my exploration of both of their works dead in its tracks.
another one for the blocked list. This was back in the 80s before Oasis was even a thought in the lads’ minds.
I listened to that for the first time last week. I avoided it due to the horrible reviews and reputation it has, but by now you'd think what idiot critics think wouldn't matter. They never have before. I think the record starts slowly, but From Queen Jane on I loved it. Brent is fantastic throughout, as usual, and Jerry comes to life in the later songs. Best version of "Joey" I think I've heard. I'll revisit it for sure.
Classy. Why are you getting so confrontational and angry so often? free advice.. when you post something, if a reasonable response would be “**** you, douche” consider editing. There’s only about ten guys that post on this thread, no need to get in fights. your proudly and defiantly throwing shade on Dylan and the dead repeatedly and then blocking someone you have hung out with and known for years because I sort of said something about Oasis. I hope you were kidding.
Phil sounds fantastic on that album. Sure, as a Dead album it’s missing jerry vocals and any amount of jamming. so that’s not going to be a first choice dead pick and every song is one Dylan has sung with a better voice but there’s nothing offensive about it. The LP has a fairly fantastic and accurate sound for a dead stadium show of the time. Big, powerful, full and detailed. I’ll take that over Sinatra covers any day.
I need to listen to the hi-def Amazon HD version on my system, I only heard an mp3 type of file. I'd love to hear complete shows from that tour as well as the tour Dylan did with Petty.
Well with the latest stuff I can't decide if he's pushed his sense of humor to the point where we can no longer be sure he's joking, or whether he's actually angry that I said I wish I could like a post twice and that you joked about how he itemizes his "like"s. I honestly don't know at this point. I was willing to take it all as a joke, anyway, unless forced not to... But the usual "blocked" stuff is a joke, he never actually blocks anyone I don't think.
One of the blogs that reconstructs "lost albums" put together a Jerry's Picks version of Dylan & The Dead; 18 tracks that Jerry supposedly selected for the album, but were rejected by Dylan. Look for that if you haven't found it, already. Is there a consensus on the best show of the tour with Dylan? The one I have is 1987-07-19 Eugene.
The blocked stuff, yes. The insults via the state we live in, no. Not that I give a rat's ass what anyone thinks of NJ (I'm not a big fan myself), but I didn't detect any 'humor' there.
