Terry Callier Occasional Rain. The first of his albums with an expanded sound and some R&B-ish folky soulful swing. On first impression certain songs like Golden Circle seem a little schmaltzy but others like Trance On Sedgewick Street are really good. And I like the segue tracks that are mixed in throughout.
I don’t find myself wanting to listen to those albums a lot but I really miss seeing them live. They were kind of perfect. Good crowd, you could decide to go last minute, could walk up to the stage and it was a rollicking good time. Pressing hard into a 1980 JGB vibe and trippin balls.
Wishbone Ash comes up here every now and then and I’m familiar with this album by reputation but I’ve never heard it. I’ll have to check it out soon.
None of the shows I went to were released but all their stuff sounds great, perhaps better than the sound I heard in the room but the fun of the experience can’t be under valued. Watching those guys work and being in the circuit was a big deal.
I do have this one, which is also on Anthology Recordings: Paul Major: Feel The Music Vol. 1, by Various Artists
I like both of those Anthology comps, especially Feel The Music. The book that went along with it is great too. This one come out last summer but I haven't checked it out yet. Will need to fix that soon. ... Still Sad
Terry Callier I Just Can’t Help Myself. This one is on the smoother side of soulful and he stretches out as it goes in. Until Tomorrow, Alley-Wind Song and Bowling Green are good songs, among others. I also like the scatting on Can’t Catch The Trane. What Color Is Love really stands out as a gem but I enjoyed all of his first four albums.
I have it to, but the question I ask is "how did I get this?" Need to play it again soon now, but it is really good late 60's garage/psych.
Tonight it's Zappa: Roxy, The Movie. No need to put the heat on as this band sets fire to the room toot sweet.
I have a green label WB of that but you’ve got me beat with the WLP. I love that your copy has the Garcia promo sticker on it. My copy’s cover is VG- at best (ring wear, split seam). But hey, it only cost me like $5!
nice albums I love that kind of stuff. Try this one, it is very nice to listen to. I hop it's NOT the last of Fairport Convention... I mean... I hope they'll make some others!! and then, yes, naturally, this "Unhalfbricking" is a classic for all of us. Was great, IS great, remains GREAT !
SG “Oseng” Ambient? Instrumental trip-hop? It’s by a friend’s daughter’s boyfriend. My streaming it has probably earned him £0.00000001, but hey every little bit helps
