Improvisors Pool - Backgrounds For Improvisors

Live set featuring Sam Rivers and Alexander Von Schlippenbach in 1995. There’s a lot going on but it’s really good. @bzfgt mentioned it a while back and it called out on my Bandcamp to-listen list today.

 

It wasn't bad... Nice enough listen but nothing special. I liked the album The Discipline of Assent released a few years ago. I usually enjoy albums on this label but they all tend to have a very similar vibe and I don't go back to them often. Maybe I should try some of their early releases.

 

I love this record. Todd Snider and Neal Casal plus others from the jam scene.
I'm sure that Dennis could tell you more about them.
Did anyone seen them live?

Well I tell ya, it works great with a couple of strong gin&tonics while cooking dinner.
I might hit their live record next.

 

First listen. Friends invited us to see them live, but while the album’s OK a concert doesn’t appeal

 

Curious, seemingly antithetical artwork, given the title. Meaningless aside: Reminds me of a Magritte, in an oblique sort of way.
