Maybe all of them were picked only by the cover? or not. :sigh:

This really is the white male rock critic's 200 greatest albums of all time. But then, music criticism is on the whole a white male hobby.

I'm always a bit puzzled when jazz albums (and always the same jazz albums) find their way into these lists. I mean - if we're included non-rock/pop genres, why not include classical as well?

Unless I missed it, I didn't see Derek & the Domino's Layla and Other Assorted Love Songs anywhere! :realmad::realmad::realmad:

I have 124 of these. Will definitely check out some of the ones I don't have.

Am I alone in being puzzled by the Steely Dan album choices? No Aja?

    I have 120.

There's nothing really that is that surprising about what's in there.

I'm in two minds about the inclusion of jazz on this type of list - 5 albums (and 3 by the same person) out of 200 isn't nearly enough and the latest one was made 45 years ago!

Got 58 of them, but quite a few (Beatles, Roxy Music) in complete boxsets.

If so, Carly Simon's No Secrets is a noticeable omission for me ...;)

I've got 90 of them. The Stones got dissed a bit in my opinion.

    I've got 136 of them.

My record collection has a severe bald spot when it comes to techno/urban/rnb, etc. No doubt some people would describe it as 'hideously white', although the jazz and soul usual suspects are all present and correct.

Only one reggae album I can see - Heart of the Congos - which means no Bob Marley.

    Really?

Natty Dread or Live at the Lyceum surely - and I'd would have though other reggae should be in there like Two Sevens Clash, King Tubby Meets Rockers Uptown, Satta Massagana, a Burning Spear or a Toots album.

Agreed. If you like reggae then Mojo are a better bet than Uncut.

I have 34 of these. I am a sucker for these types of lists. It often re-sparks my curiosity for albums I don't own.

Daedalus I haven't heard it all.....

Why limit yourself to 200 albums. It would be like limiting yourself to the use of 200 brain cells. Or only 200 craft beers. A form of book burning really.
