Yes, people are concerned with receiving retaliatory negative feedback, though the Gorts will remove it. It's another hassle when you already have the hassle of dealing with a bad seller.

There is a comments section you can see if you click the one-line feedback link. That's where you can add details.

This probably won't go over well, but I think we should adopt the policy eBay did for awhile -- feedback for sellers only. Do buyers really need feedback? Their job isn't that hard. Commit to sending money and send it. I don't need positive feedback because I sent someone some money. Yes, it can be frustrating for a seller to deal with a deadbeat buyer, but you still have your item and you can offer it up again. You can decide not to deal with that supposed buyer again, but you don't really need to leave them negative feedback. They didn't really do you harm.

The seller has more responsibility in a transaction, and feedback is especially relevant. For the buyer, not so much.

Just so you know, Keith - eBay still has that policy in place. As someone who (my wife as well) has an eBay business, I can't agree with not being able to leave negative feedback for buyers, as long as there is a way to remove 'retaliatory' negative feedback.

What about the buyer who is looking to scam? Just as with sellers, it is infrequent, but it happens. Claims of not receiving product, product being "damaged, but I'll accept a 'partial refund' and keep it", etc. Sellers need protection as well, and being able to document this kind of activity and bring attention to other sellers is necessary. eBay has tilted the scale so far towards the buyer that I know several people who have stopped selling on there.

The problem is that people on here are reticent to leave negative feedback - I believe it should be done, but only after exhausting any possibility of solving any issues via PM's. But I think bad eggs should be exposed, whether they are buyers or sellers.

Look...I think this is all good discussion to some degree. And this is the place to air your feelings and apparently dirty laundry regarding some bad apples. Fine. But I stand with those who have posted earlier in this thread who don't want to overcomplicate and overregulate what goes on in our beloved classifieds. If you are the buyer and are so picky that you are offended by sellers who are trying to honestly grade and sell discs that other forum folks dig, and you expect a museum piece arriving in an armored car, then you might be buying in the wrong place (unless the seller states that their product is a museum piece that will arrive in an armored car). If you are a seller and the only reason you sell in the classifieds is to promote your business or, heaven forbid, swindle some honest buyers, then you are definitely selling in the wrong place. If you don't fall into either category, then be happy with the classifieds the way they are, attempt to police yourselves accordingly, and rock on.

 I've refused to sell to buyers that have this reputation...here, and on eBay, for complaining, and sending message after message saying they " see marks " on a disc, that neither I, nor anyone else can see. It's just not worth getting myself into that, so I tell them, thanks, but no thanks, I'd rather not have to deal with you. Funny, I've got literally dozens of happy customers, who have said I graded conservatively, but then they don't suffer from OCD apparently.

Agreed. The beauty of the Classifieds here is the sense of 'community' you don't really get elsewhere. That's why the very few 'bad apples' have to be identified, so we can keep it like it is.

    As you say, rock on.

I thought we started one citing the great sellers here. Heck, I might have even started it.

As a buyer, I've been getting feedback on eBay. I don't see it as a one-way system at present. Am I reading it wrong?

Your point about the scam buyer is a fair one. It happens more the other way (cheating seller), but the scenarios you cited do happen once in awhile, I suppose.

Sellers on eBay can now only leave positive feedback or no feedback. Some of them leave positive feedback with retaliatory negative comments, which is against eBay rules. I got a negative comment that way once and eBay removed it at my request.

Thanks, Hans. I obviously haven't paid close attention to buyer feedback since I never sell on eBay.

I gave up selling on ebay when they stopped letting sellers leave negative feedback for buyers. I rarely had to do so, but I also knew it was a good system of checks and balances. Once they took that away, I saw what was coming and quit selling there.

As others have mentioned, I enjoy the sense of community when using the classifieds here, and I sure hope it can stay that way. That actually existed at ebay also for quite some time, but not anymore.

I'm happy to say that I haven't had any unhappy buyers from selling here (nor had a bad buying experience), though my classified activity here is much more limited than others. Sure would make good if anyone wasn't satisfied, though.

I don't suppose I've added anything meaningful to this thread :)laugh:) but wanted to chime in regarding ebay at least.

Well no, if you look at the dates and comments, you will see I left negative last Friday. I also said I am leaving it on since there has been no contact or explanation.

Negative feedback only works if you use it !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've had almost no bad experiences either here or on eBay. I'm sorry for you guys who have been completely stiffed.

The only two bad experiences I've had here was an extremely long delivery time and recently on eBay a CD was described as "Like New" and it showed up looking pretty haggard. Communication is important and grading conservatively are good seller qualities.

It absolutely happens more the other way, but eBay has gone overboard attempting to bring in more business - buyer protection plan, no negative feedback, etc. As a long time responsible seller, it burns me that I and others like me have to deal with this because of a few bad sellers.

  19. eBay is simply trying to emulate the model of their number one competitor, Amazon Marketplace. Almost every single move they have made in the past few years is to mirror Amazon's practices as closely as possible.

Didn't have the chance to play it yesterday, but will today. I'll say this - visually it isn't very attractive, so maybe a good cleaning will help. More later.

Finally got a chance to spin the Classic "Who By Numbers", and after a cleaning it really isn't bad at all - a few clicks and pops here and there, and certainly not in the "played one time" state the seller claimed it was, but a whole lot better than I thought it would be.

For $20, worth the price. One time!
