I'm the person who started the first thread about the Who's Next LP that was in such poor condition - for $40 and $6 shipping.

In July, the seller gave me his word that he would be sending a refund by August 21st.

I've sent him 2 PM's this month, to see what's happening.

    No response.

Any suggestions to keep from being ripped off? Anyone?

Is mail fraud an option to look into?

Mail fraud has to be nearly impossible to prove, and who has the time to go through the hassle.

By the way, I just got another badly graded record on here. I'm at the point where I think I'll only buy vinyl here from a select few, like Clay, Rick and James.

Sent this seller a PM, and haven't gotten a reply in five days. This one was $30.:(

I've recently gotten back into vinyl and my policy is to never buy a record I can't inspect in person first.

Smart, but unless you have a bunch of places you can shop for vinyl, that isn't always possible. Funny thing is, the vast majority of experiences online I've had are positive, even when there is an issue.

Agreed. The other thing is that with many record shops, the selection is limited, and anything good can be over-priced. The Internet levels the playing field.

Well it shows he was on 8/4, and I believe he has to login for it to show in his statistics that he was on. That means he could look in the Classified sections and the PM's. But he won't see PM's and even this thread if he just visits. So he should have been able to read anything at least back to 8/4.

I sent a message to the seller about 10 days ago, and got no response.

Sent him another message a few days ago - still no response.

Very hard to believe that he's going to make good on his promise on a refund by August 21st.

Anybody heard from the seller at all this month?

You mean, like, call the postmaster in Maryland, where his p.o. box is located?

Still nothing from the seller. I checked his status (haven't bothered since August) and sad to see he was browsing the site today. I just do not understand all of this.

I sent him a private message a moment ago asking him if he could think it through and just settle this. I also asked if he ever felt like he was ripped-off and if he could maybe remember/understand that it's not a nice feeling.

I'm sorry I was so angry when all this happened (some of my previous posts). There were just some other things going on which magnified things a lot (the loss of my partner's father and some other challenges).

    Oh well............

I guess I was lucky. A rip off is a rip off though, you had a right to be pissed !

Todd, he also owes me money and a few other members I have spoke with via PM. I am pretty sure none of us will ever see a dime. Karma, however, is the great equalizer...

I'm sorry for all of us but I guess it's time to really move on from this. Lessons learned and yes, Karma is the great equalizer! :)

I honestly do not understand how someone can go through life without a clear conscience.

 I charge $120 p/h to explain this one fully.

 Hi Todd! I agree, time to plot another course with your conscience in check. I guess this is exactly why reputation is everything.

Here's a story for those of us that have been attempted to be scammed.

I sold an MFSL Gold CD to a member I hadn't previously known who had requested I lower my price by $5. I said no, it's already the least expensive copy on the web. The CD gets delivered and the buyer proceeds to tell, then show me a picture of a cracked lift-lock jewel case with "possibly" my CD/artwork inside. Anyone want to guess how much he wanted to have me refund him so he could buy another jewel case? I offered $2 towards replacement and he declined.

If it smells like Tuna... it probably is. :)

Have you heard from him lately? I guess it's true that they always return to the scene.
