Its still fun to list guitarists no harm. Also it might be part of forum list obsessivesness an act of self flagellation the belief that somebody might not recognize one of the greatest as such That we are in the twilight of the age of guitar playing, rock music even traditional music, listing them keeps that world alive for a greatly diminished audience. My teenage son who grew up in a house full of them probably could not even name or recognize a few of the great bands or a couple of players. He couldn’t even name Brian May as the guitarist from Queen which at this point unfortunately is the only band that most of his generation know from that era
He was ranked 51st in Rolling Stone magazine's list of the 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time. Doesn't seem too underrated by that standard.
Campbell recently produced Marty and the Superlatives, Way Out West. Very cool. I saw Marty and band with McGuinn and Hillman. They did the entire Sweathearts of the Rodeo plus a bunch more. All those guys were jaw dropping good.
perfect fit. would love to have seen that. to say nothing of most everything i've ever heard marty do. to say nothing of that superlative band name. he really was the last of the genuine "nudie's western wear" attired country folks, in my book.
They don't understand the difference between under-rated and unknown. And in many cases, they can't even be bothered to spell their names correctly.
his mane came into my mind, but then again he is well know to fans and other musicians...as he guested on their albums...
