I think a lot of rock stars are pretty small people, especially those 60s rockers. I saw Mick Jagger at an art gallery opening many years ago in New York, and was stunned at how little he was....
Especially true for that post-war generation of British blokes. I've read (re: post-war Britain in general, not just rock stars) that this was because of food shortages and spotty nutrition when they were growing up.
There is no doubt that that is the case. When the war ended the vast majority of those iconic 60's British rockers were all 1-5 years old so they are growing up in time of great deprivation--rationing etc. Even just being born into a time when a war was going on, and all the stress associated with that--would likely have an impact on their growth....

I think that was one of those Rolling Stone cover photo shoots. It had a whole bunch of people in the photo.
I copied what was posted on a Jeff Beck Facebook page and the guy that took the photo wrote the caption.
Well I don't think Jeff Beck has ever changed his hair or his clothing style, has he? Don't know about the other guys. In any case, that picture could easily be from the early 80s, fashion-wise.
the pic is from when powell and blackmore were both members of rainbow so the latest that pic could be is exactly 1980. my guess is the caption is wrong and its probably 1977
This is one of those things where, if you saw these three guys standing at a bus stop and didn't know who they were, you'd run. (Wondering why there is a sheep on May's head...) On an unrelated note, Stevie Nicks appears to have been photo-friends with every musician in the 70s/80s.
