It is an Ian Anderson solo album in all but name.

There’s no official announcement. It’s merely news that Rees shared with Tull fans on Facebook. If you’re on Facebook, search for any Tull-related page, and you’ll find his post. I couldn’t care less if you think I’m just throwing nonsense out there.

No. It’s the new defacto JT lineup that evolved from 80 and onwards.

Many JT albums could be categorized as IA solo albums in all by name. It was his brainchild.

My apologies. I thought you were asking for a link to an official announcement page.

The 1980 split was different from earlier personnel changes. John Evan was Ian's first real musical collaborator, joined soon after by Hammond and Barlow. After 1980, none of Jethro Tull's members had deep ties to Ian - all of them, Barre included, were invited to join an established group after passing an audition. The tone, feel, and dynamic of the group shifted noticeably when Hammond left in 1975, and seismically when Barlow and Evan departed. The group has never been the same since. Whether one likes the band's post-1980 material is a matter of taste, but the transition from Stormwatch to A to The Broadsword and the Beast was neither seamless nor linear.

And intended as such. I sometimes wonder how the band's history might have been different if Barre hadn't tagged along on A, tempting Chrysalis to label the project a Jethro Tull album. Possibly there may have been little long-term change; maybe the band would have broken up, only to re-form in the early 1980s with largely new personnel, which is in many ways quite close to what actually happened.

Also wonder if Fylingdale Flyer’s lyric gives the album its title as in A ok.

They checked the systems through and they read a okay

I'm happy with the Benefit I already have...
"A" will almost certainly get my dollars, as will Broadsword.... I reckon even Underwraps will as well.
I have just been enjoying the Tull sets too much.

I want all the Benefit I can get...this and Aqualung are my all time Tull favs...I can fondly remember my Dad telling me to turn it down when I was blasting Benefit the day I bought it when it hit the streets!
