yup, me too! and I'm sure others as well...

 

Erm, pretty sure no-one buys these just for the packaging. It's what's in the package that counts, and most of the sets have been outstanding. There was earlier talk about the label not wanting to do a Benefit book set unless they found something new to include, whether they stuck with that I don't know.

I don't like A, as I've stated previously, Side 1 is brilliant, and Side 2 is appalling. However, I'm in a bookset, these are great opportunity to revisit, and try things again.

 

Correct. Since intended as an Ian Anderson solo project, the recording tapes were marked “A” for Anderson. The name stuck.

 

You can say what you want but it says Jethro Tull on the front and it has Martin Barre on guitar on every cut.

 

This is great news. Any speculation as to who remixed “A”? Wilson?

I love "A", so I'm very pleased to see the series is continuing. Broadsword, if it happens, will also make a splendid deluxe book set.

 

Let‘s hope Steven Wilson took his time he got during Lockdown and the postponed tour for work on more remixes!

 

All true, and it's a Jethro Tull album in the catalog. But it should count for something that, during the recording sessions, no one involved, including Anderson, thought they were making a Jethro Tull album. Ian Anderson thought he was working on a solo album with guest musicians, and Eddie Jobson never joined Jethro Tull as a band member. So it's a Jethro Tull album by adoption, rather than by birth.

 

I never liked A too much, but I would buy a book edition only for the book itself.

 

On the other hand, Benefit is definetively coming, and with a good bonus.
I hope JJ is not the one to remix A though.

 

If they could both come out before Christmas, that would be fab!! I'll take both sets at once. (I know, it will never happen)

If they are doing "A" there is no way "Broadsword" is not going to happen!

 

There is absolutely no rational reason why they would stop this series.

Agreed. What other Ian Anderson/Jethro Tull releases will bring in the same income and gain the same recognition as this series It is a tremendous way to address the bands legacy.

 

Only the total extinction of the hipster will ensure the survival of the CD!

 

Hopefully in 2022, we’ll get both Broadsword and a repress (if not rejig) of TAAB.

 

Maybe even 2021 for Broadsword, since technically that's the 40th anniversary of all that material being recorded (including the mass amount of non-album tracks).

I'll take as many versions as I can get of the '81 Jack-A-Lynn demo.

 

I'd buy a Christmas Album box. It would make a lovely gift, too.

 

3 of the 5 play on the next album; that should be good enough.

 

I read once (and it's probably not true) that 'A' stood for 'Alert', which is mentioned in Fylingdale Flyer as well.
