Putting some clues together from various sources including IORR, it seems there is a release from the Stones coming.

A new listing on several sites that there is a limited edition 3 CD set coming out titled "Honk."

Straight from the page you linked to:

LORDY I hope it's not YET another comp ...
"Honk" would've been a better name than
    "Blue and Lonesome".

Slightly bizarre if it were even though the clues point to it being exactly that. Not sure why they aren't waiting for the coming 60th Anniversary in a few years? That's what they've done with the last couple greatest hits packages...

Like Aerosmith, these guys do not need to EVER make another compilation of released tracks. Just give us the unreleased ones.

A 3-CD set of what? Hope it's not another greatest hits package.

This new release (Honk) has nothing to do with RSD.

Would be nice if this package was closer to an archival set with a mix of released and unreleased tracks. Reviving projects that were discarded in the past.

Something akin to Petty’s “An American Treasure” would be a treat, ESPECIALLY if it covered 60s ground.

so they're going the Paul Simon route that every new studio album means its time for yet another Greatest Hits repackaging to add maybe one track from the last album into the mix for a "definitive" collection? lol

From your mouth to Mick's ears. The Stones have been woefully underserved when it comes to officially released sessions/outtakes/etc. I would be living if that were the case. But another comp or, even worse, some more live versions of Paint It Black and Street Fighting Man? No way.

    Thanks for the info!
The original post and thread title now focuses on just the 3 CD release.

Would be nice wouldn't it? I don't think we will see anything close to this as long as Mick is around. The finished unreleased tracks on the last few Deluxe Editions are the best we're gonna get, it seems.

There's a 2-CD also. I heard that a live DVD will be included on the limited edition, so my bet is that this "3 CD" listing is actually referring to a 2-CD + 1 DVD.

    Ah thanks for that.

Isn't it possible the live cut of "She's A Rainbow" on the RSD release will be one of the live cuts on the DVD on the 3 CD set? It's a common tactic for studios to put something out on RSD to pre-hype a product coming later in the year. Plus, with the artwork on the RSD looking very similar to the cryptic posts on the Stones' social media it seems connected.

I hope that modified lips artwork will end up on that Honk package somehow. I like it.

What if it's a 3CD live hits collection of tunes recorded since 2012? I heard they've recorded/filmed a bunch of shows from each tour since the 50 & Counting tour. Could be cool I guess. A new studio album would be better but I'll accept a new live set.

This 2 CD and 3 CD stuff and the Amazon listing makes no sense with my theory, but my first "Honk" thought is that the B-side of the live "She's A Rainbow" single is going to be the laid back acoustic backstage version of "Country Honk" from the Ole Ole Ole documentary, a while ago. It would certainly fit with the apparent theme of "what can the Stones release with as little effort as possible."

As do I. It's real eye grabbing and plain old fun. If anything, the only plus side will be this new set will replace GRR! with its dreadful cover...
