That’s the business. Wanted to get a peak at the veneer. Looks pretty good from what I can see. I’ve had an order in on the English walnut variant for a while now. Anxious to have a look at them. I don’t think exist in the wild yet. And thanks again for the additional pics.
The wait will be worth it. The veneer is very nice quality and can only expect the same with the English walnut I got very lucky getting these my audio dealer had them in his stock room for the past 6 months he had forgotten about them so when he listed them I garbed them.
Man, these are some sexy speakers. I don't have room for them in my room so I'm waiting for the recently announced Model 3. I think I'll be waiting for some time.
I was really leaning towards the walnut, but am especially glad that I chose the Mahogany after seeing these pics. Thanks for sharing. I ordered mine on Wednesday and the correspondence I received yesterday indicates that they expect delivery to happen the third week of September. Fingers crossed!
I wonder how long until we see AR3a and Large Advents. I know they did some reissues in the 90’s, but the market seems ripe for modern versions of legacy speakers.
The KLH's are replacing a pair of NOLA Contender S2's that were ported to the rear and bottom they sounded amazing but had to be placed to far into the room. So sealed cabinets like you stated make sense.
I have read that a lot of people preferred the the walnut to the mahogany I like the mahogany and its just a bit redder than walnut the stand between them is walnut I think its a nice match.
they should have started this 10 years ago. there was nothng on the market except thin towers and i was looking hard.
Walnut or bust! African mahogany isn't nostalgic enough. Are these speakers readily available now? I don't see many user opinions on them.
I would need to hear them before seriously considering them. I don't want to sound snotty, but I'm weary of accepting as hi-fi something that is mostly sold at Best Buy. I went to their webpage to look up their dealer network around my area: one hifi dealer, the rest are all Best Buy. I'm not even sure any Best Buy is equipped to give you a proper audition, meaning a separate enclosed room with good equipment driving them.
There are only a small number of specialist dealers even stocking them in UK and only one currently has stock (a vintage specialist in London) that doesn't appear to do home deliveries. No sign of the Walnut veneer option on the EU KLH (Ireland) web site so I think they are going to be months away.
The walnut-finished speakers have never existed. Their first examples will come with next wave of deliveries scheduled for the middle of the month (I hope…I hope…I hope). To my knowledge, there isn’t even a single photo of the speakers in walnut that has been published. Everything I’ve seen has been computer generated. Most frustrating. Holding out, though.
Maybe Steve should get a pair of refurbished ones then because mine have impressed me for a long time.
That guy is incredibly annoying. Sorry. "Herd Mentality?" The guy gushes over everything he reviews. Exhume Art Dudley.
I like Steve Guttenberg, and even though I'm personally excited to hear the new Model 5's, I appreciate the point of view he expresses in this video. Steve seems to like forward, dynamic speakers (klipsch), so it just tells me that the Model 5's might be a little laid back for his taste. Or maybe they suck, which is his point; you have to listen for yourself instead of relying on 2nd hand accounts. I'll be ordering from Music Direct when/if I pull the trigger, and they have a pretty healthy return policy if I end up agreeing with him. But yeah, I miss Art Dudley.
Interesting because he loves Klipsch Rpm 600 and Tekton speakers, both of which I have had and both of which made me turn to my headphone system. Sold them and I got the KLH model 5 which is a very different sound signature and I’m finally happy. So I guess different strokes as he says.
I've had Tekton as well (Lores) and agree with you that they're not that great, so hopefully I will also like the KLH Model 5's.
Yeah, the tekton sound was too forward for me, and the KLH allows me to listen to a wider variety of music I like without getting fatigued while at the same time still being dynamic and full. But it seems like Steve is enthusiastic about Zu and Klipsch and the like. I’ve never heard Zu but the Klipsch bookshelf’s I had were also too bright for me, but I’d like to hear the big Cornwalls someday and see if those are different. He doesn’t really say in the video why he didn’t like the speakers so we can only speculate. I don’t know why he couldn’t post a negative review to give his perspective. I guess that’s forbidden in hi fi?
