    Peter,

You need to do an A/B of The UK EP Box with the US EP Box...

and the same with the UK-US Singles Box:)

That will tell if there is truly a sound quality difference...

You are comparing Apples and Oranges...the Singles and EP Boxes have a few common tracks but different mastering:)

    ...and MADE IN USA:)

Just as I thought...did you ever do an A/B?

I have the US Singles/US EP both Made In USA...both boxes have the UK versions

I get your point. I got my US EP box sealed for $75.00 here in SF because someone traded it in that way (and yes, it was sealed because it had the big black sticker on the back of it.)

Then, I tried to find the US Singles box (tough!). When I couldn't and found the UK one for $113.00 new including shipping, I went for it. I never intended to be an expert on this thread and I could not recall all the comments on earlier threads. I DID recall that BOTH boxes were supposed to sound better than the regular 13 CD's plus PM. And, I did like my US EP box. And, the later EP's do still sound good. But, on the tracks I compared, the Singles box sounded better.

Maybe you can put this matter to rest:

What tapes did the EP box come from?

What tapes did the Singles box come from?

Was no-noise NOT used on both?

Do you mean the discs inside your US-made boxes are UK-made discs?

Phenomenal difference. Like hearing a different recording. Makes you cry for the way it could be!

No, Both the EP Box & the Singles Box are manufactured in the US...The content contained is the UK Singles and EP's as issued in the UK:)

    Hi Peter,

    OK, Here goes....

NoNoise was not used on either box.

    As Steve stated above...

    Quote:

The British EP box was mastered from the original second generation (except for a few songs) EP tapes.

The British Singles box was mastered (except in the case of several **** ups) from the single mixes.

    End Quote...

THAT's why you are hearing different SOUND QUALITY between the box sets...

This should tuck this subject in for pleasant dreams...

    Sleep well :)

This thread is beginning to sound like a bad Abbott and Costello routine. Peter - regarding the differences that you are hearing between the Singles Box and the EP box, please refer to this thread:

On tape heads, azimuth, and the Beatles "Love Me Do"
