I was checking the tracking of some packages I sent and I got this message:

High Volume Usage Message | USPS

They want me to register for some Web Tools API Portal

Very strange. Anybody else ever get this?

Kind of stuck right now as it won't let me do any tracking.

How many and how often are you checking?

I usually go through the items I shipped once a day. There's about 10 to 15 a day. I got the message after about the 3rd one today.

Are you on a shared IP address? Or you're doing this from a home IP?

Are you using a vpn? Because that will easily trip you up and make it look like you're using a high volume portal.

Just at home. No VPN. Don't understand. Been doing it for years and then today I get this message. I still can't track any packages.

where are you tracking? directly on the USPS website, via link elsewhere, the app?

their system is rife with bugs and glitches so maybe it's just bad luck for you at the moment.

I have a spreadsheet with the tracking link for each package I ship. I usually check each open shipment once a day. This really sucks. It's only about 10 a day.

I've never seen that msg and I'm using USPS tracking daily like you.

    Maybe clean out your cache?

I'd ignore it for now, and wait to see if you get that error again. You're not breaking any rules so don't worry about being blacklisted or something.

Other things to consider: Anyone else at your house use the computer?

Could there be a bug/virus/worm that is hitting the USPS a lot from your house?

You can also use a free web site like packagetrackr.com to input your tracking numbers and stay up to date on their shipping/transit status.

Thanks. I tried packagetrackr.com and was able to get tracking for all my packages just by copying and pasting into their tracking for USPS. Good enough for now.

Just made a list of my shipments on Packagetrackr. Looks like it will work nicely as I know can see status of all my packages at once rather than checking each one separately. Thanks again
