When I had the 6N1P's going bad, I got a rushing or scratching noise in just one channel. When I swapped the position of the 2 6N1P's, the noise moved to the other channel.

Are you getting the noise in both channels or just one? Also is it heard with all inputs selected?

Was the sizzling sound through the speakers or from inside the amp?

Believe the problem has now been solved ( touch wood) not the amp itself but a phono stage that has played havoc with my system in the past ( but is fine in the lounge system...….) It is a tad temperamental in my main den system, so in summary l believe an RFI issue- hopefully.:D

Glad to hear things are good with your amp. Mine is still working fine with the replacement 6N1p's.

Did you guys see the new phono preamp? Has dip switches as well as a USB input for digitalizing your vinyl. The gain for MC up to 70db.

    Vincent: PHO-500

Haven't see that before. I have a Parks Audio Puffin that I am pretty happy with. I would like to have the CD-S7 CD player someday though.

Good shout about the CD player if the 237MK is anything to go by.

    No valves in the PHO-500?

Arrrrgh!!!! The amp is not making any sound, only the quiet sizzling at the back of the amplifier:(.... going to have to phone the dealer, changed all the valves with the same result- no sound.:realmad:

Man, that really sucks! I hope you have a backup amp to listen to. At least it has a 2 year warranty.

I use EL34, NOS RFT's in my AN Kit amp. RFT's are very nice sounding tubes and you can get some very excellent buys on them through seller's on eBay.

I also use late 1950's RCA 12AX7 Black Plates in my preamp sections. They are very nice also.

Any update on the status of your amp?

Hello everyone, I’m new to the forum and new to tube rolling. Happy owner of a Vincent sv237mk since June and looking forward to my first tube rolling experience. Can any of the sv237mk owners confirm how difficult it is to take the 12ax7 valve out of its socket? I tried it yesterday and couldn’t even get the tube to barely move out of its place. I tried pulling it out with my fingers and slightly rocked it back and forth while pulling but just couldn’t get it out. Any help with describing your experience or tips on how this should be done will be appreciated.

I found it very easy to remove the 12AX7. You have to kinda "roll" the tube in a circular motion as you pull up...hence the term "tube rolling".

If I had to guess, based on what little info we have, I'd say there's a chance you had some speak wires touch when powering up after changing speakers. I wouldn't put money on that, however. Just a thought.

Thank you so much for your reply. Will try again within the next couple days and report back. Does the “rolling” have to be in a certain direction - clockwise or counter clockwise?

Just as long as you don't do both at the same time.

Gently rocking the tube back and forth while applying gentle pressure to extract the tube works better for me.

A little bit of pressure to the side works well also.

You are just trying to loosen up the tube as you work it out.
