    "It's over" could have meant that the tour was over. It could have been about his relationship with Peavey coming to an end. Or, really, it could mean this latest incarnation of VH is finished.

    Only Ed knows......

    And I wouldn't even be so sure of that.

    Hasn't his Peavey thing been done for quite a while? Why would he really care about that?

    Still can't find any real info on this. Still looking.

    Well, there's been no official word. He could very well have been obligated to use Peaveys for the tour. Tour's end = no more Peaveys.

    SO, it's been Kramer, ErnieBall/Musicman, Peavey, now Charvel.....I see a parallel with his singers! ;)

    Van Halen is so completely irrelevant in 2004....does anyone really care anymore?

    I tend to appreciate them for what they once were and not what I hope they will still be or wish they could be. Yeah, I care.

    It is sad to see any great musician or athlete deteriorate with age.

    Well, after wading thru more of that mung over at that site, the general concensus seems to be he was drunk and smashed a guitar. Big deal. I think the original "dude" poster was probably reading a bit too much into the whole "it's over" situation.....although, after hearing the 3 new songs on the greatest hits package, I'd say IT IS OVER!

    Tell me about it. Try to tell someone that THE WHITE ALBUM is not a great album, or that Motown was just as if not more important than the British Invasion, or that the greatest albums of the sixties were released by Miles Davis . . .

    One of the similarities is that like the Beatles until John Lennon's murder, a Van Halen reunion is still possible. Desperate fans spend a lot of time and energy trying to read the tea leaves of the latest magazine interviews or entertainment gossip, hoping against hope for the promise of a reunion, or in this particular case, evidence of the apocalypse.

    I have to defend EVH here. I have a few DVD and CD-R boots of this tour that's just ended and his playing was fine. He was just improvising a lot. Some people (mostly those who don't play guitar) assume EVH must have forgotten how to play the songs or that he isn't technically capable. That's not true, IMO. And some of the stuff he was doing in his solos blew my mind (I'm a guitarist). Fantastic playing.

    I think the mixed reactions were due to the improvisation that was going on. It seemed to confuse some people who were used to EVH basically playing things note-for-note in the past.

    I guess you're not a fan of the new songs...? :D

    When I first heard IAT on the net (it was leaked to the net early on), I was shocked. I honestly said, "Van Halen is dead." I judged the future of the band based on the intro of the song. When I gave it a chance, though, I realised it was a decent song. UFB isn't so great, but it's tolerable at times. LTS is a decent song. I don't listen to them much anymore, but I did for a while and I'm sure I will again. But, hey, I also like most of VH3..... :D

    I saw VH this tour and EVH is spot on. Some of these VH fans need (especially that dude that posted that has an IQ of 10) to chill out.

    I wish I was at that show! I was at show here in Vegas a few years back and Radio Head was the opeining act. Well anyway this kid was heckeling the lead singer. Shouting out things like "you suck" and "get off the stage" well he got real mad and I really thought he was going to hop off the stage and start fighting. The heckler was pretty big so I don't blame him for not but it was still funny as heck!

    Woah..careful Matrix. I said the same thing in another thread and got raked for it. Some people can't see the forest for the trees, I guess. :confused: The VH meltdown that has occurred in recent years was seemingly inevitable.

    IAT = "It's About Time"
    UFB = "Up For Breakfast"
    LTS = "Learning To See"

    These are the three (3) new songs on the 2CD set TBOBW (aka The Best Of Both Worlds)

    HTH (Hope that helps) :D

    I can see what you mean....I love the Who(or "The Two", as they are jokingly called now), and yet I think they are also as relevant in 2004 as VH. Like Dave, I once loved this band, and wish they could rise, Phoenix-like, from the ashes.

    Difference seems to be that the Who can still pull off a live ***-kicking, if the reports from the recent Hollywood Bowl show can be believed.
