Video/podcasting software - recommendations?

I'm ramping up a podcast with one or more other people remotely. One of us (likely me) will do final editing before posting it to various platforms. None of us has any experience with this sort of thing. We also don't want to spend more money than we have to; luckily there seems to be no shortage of free/freemium packages to choose from. So many, in fact, that I'm overwhelmed. I don't want to pick one at random and find out too late that I've chosen unwisely.

Does anyone have experience with these products? Does one stand out? Any to avoid? Thanks in advance.
