Looks like the original rumored fill-in musicians for Glenn have materialized, Glenn's son and Vince Gill. I am not that familiar with Gill's body of work, but I did see his Kennedy Center Honors performance of Peaceful Easy Feeling and it was outstanding. I would have liked to have seen Bernie Leadon return, but it appears he either is not interested, or Henley and Azoff did not extend an invitation this time around.

    I dunno.

You can still see the Temptations and the Four Tops on tour, and those acts are like in their 3rd generation of members. Nope, not the same as seeing Levi Stubbs, Eddie Kendricks and David Ruffin but like somebody said, it's a brand name. So what.

Watching Henley, Walsh, Timmy Schmidt and Gill is a lot closer to seeing the real deal than seeing a bunch of people calling themselves The Platters in Branson.

On some level, it is a tribute to the Eagles. It isn't as if this line-up is going to record a new album. They are most likely going to tour for the next few years and make a lot of Eagles fans happy by having the opportunity to hear the music in concert one more time. That said, let's face it, since 2001 the Eagles have been officially a four member band (Meisner has not worked with the band since 1977; Felder has not worked with the band in over 16 years; and aside from his guest spot on the History tour, Leadon had not worked with the band since 1975). Now, they still have three of the four members intact as they forge ahead, so it isn't exactly lacking legitimacy. The problem is that Glenn was the band's leader and essentially its co-star along with Henley, so his absence is much more significant and harder to overcome.

Heresy! But i may just plunk down large to see Eagles MK III if they play within reasonable driving distance from PDX.

I used to hurry a lot I used to worry a lot
I used to stay out till the break of day
    Oh, that didn't get it
It was high time I quit it
I just couldn't carry on that way

Oh, I did some damage, I know it's true
Didn't know I was so lonely, till I found you

    Who can go the distance
We'll find out in the long run (in the long run)
    We can handle some resistance
If our love is a strong one (is a strong one)

    People talkin' about us
They got nothin' else to do
When it all comes down we will
    Still come through

    In the long run
Ooh, I want to tell you, it's a long run

You know I don't understand why you don't treat yourself better
Do the crazy things that you do
'Cause all the debutantes in Houston, baby,
Couldn't hold a candle to you

Did you do it for love?
Did you do it for money?
Did you do it for spite?
Did you think you had to, honey?

    Who is gonna make it?
We'll find out in the long run (in the long run)
I know we can take it
If our love is a strong one (is a strong one)

Well, we're scared, but we ain't shakin'
Kinda bent, but we ain't breakin' in the long run
Ooh, I want to tell you, it's a long run in the long run
    In the long run
    In the long run

Gonna find out. Ooh. Find find find out
Long long long long, long long long long
Oh run run run baby run run baby
    Long long long long

I'm comfortable with my adjective of his skill level. He's certainly not "transcendent" or "excellent" in my book, but he's good.

Yes, I agree it would be amazing to have Don Felder back in the band, but that seems to be a longer shot than "Hell Freezes Over"...

As co-writer of Hotel California and Victim of Love, and more, he deserve it.

But, considering "bridges have been burnt"...perhaps all "Seven Bridges..." ?

Yup. I can see the Eagles "Hell Froze Over and Melted Due to Climate Change" Tour in 2025.

Harry Styles on guitar, fronting Eagles touring veterans Questlove, Vince Gill and Amy Grant.

Since I am much more a Vince fan than an Eagles fan, this looks like an upgrade for them to me.

Reminds me of that Hitler dubbed film on the Rolling Stones tour of Sticky FIngers without Mick Taylor, though, if they don't do any Vince songs.

The solo album came out 6 months before Frey passed away and opened at Number 3 on the charts .

Also worth noting that Vince Gill plays on that album.

Well, "Take It to the Limit" is in the low area of Vince's vocal range, so that gets back into the set :) Maybe it already was when Glenn was still around. Dunno. I hadn't followed Eagles stuff for a long time.

Ever see that live performance of Vince singing the entire Surf's Up song? He can certainly nail Brian's range on that thing so no telling what overall harmonies will sound like once the band is well-rehearsed. Probably nice n slick. Vince and Tim could easily make a career of filling in with either Beach Boys or Eagles shows imo.

Most women I know like the Eagles for their vocals. Vince Gill's got vocals.

Have you ever heard Vince sing "I Will Always Love You"? It gave me goosebumps, I liked it that much.

Ok, for you he is. For me, he's "good". Not sure a subjective opinion has be debated so heavily. I didn't say he sucked or anything derisive.
