I got Candy Tangerine Man and Raw Power. I could easily spend a Paycheck at Vinegar Syndrome.

I spent way too much again. I always do on their BF and Half Way to BF sales. Can't believe all 3,000 copies of Mausoleum sold out less than 24 hours!!

Spend money! This is one of our big clients for whom we do a lot of the mastering. We kill ourselves to squeeze the best possible pictures out of these wacky films. My joke is: "this is the best these films have ever looked, even since the day they were released."

I love the idea of not only preserving the huge blockbusters that everybody's heard of, but also the weird grindhouse movies that were popular in the 1970s, 1980s, and even 1990s, the films that have kind of fallen through the cracks. There's some interesting titles there.

I thought this was about 16mm prints which are starting to have vinegar smell.

I should not speak for the company, but I did work on it. I know they go out of their way to find the best, most complete versions of their films.

A lot of different kinds of film take on a kind of "vinegar" chemical smell when they start to deteriorate. The worst I've ever encountered was with 1950s 35mm mag tracks, which give off a smell you can't believe... almost a combination of vinegar and ammonia. It'll make your eyes water. As long as the film hasn't badly warped, it can still play to a degree.

The company is trying to digitally restore "lost" films before they completely get destroyed by vinegar syndrome (and apathy), so it's a clever name.

I'd been waiting for this sale as I had 2-3 titles I wanted to pick up. That turned into 12 by the time I got done. I should know better by now, as the same process repeats itself every time they have a sale.

Vinegar Syndrome, along with other niche home video companies that cater to dedicated film buffs like Severin, Flicker Alley, Arrow, Indicator, Criterion, Warner Archive, and Kino Lorber, are really doing God's work in taking titles that others would ignore and giving them top-shelf treatment with (in many cases) a healthy amount of supplementary content.

Do you happen to follow the Vinegar Syndrome thread over at Bluray.com? If you have Blue Vengeance, apparently, there is a $5.00 coupon code buried somewhere in the menus of the DVD or the blu-ray, I'm not sure which. It expires on 12/31/18 if I'm not mistaken. Also, there is a $5.00 coupon on the Body Melt packaging somewhere. I gave up on Easter Eggs long ago, but it's pretty cool that they do this sort of stuff! Including my Black Friday pre-order, I must have at least 20 discs coming to me. Yeah, I overindulged!

No, I don't follow the Blu-ray.com forums very closely, but I suppose I should check in there more often. I don't have either one of those discs but that's pretty interesting about the codes-as-Easter-eggs. On the Blu of Corruption, the complete theatrical cut of Last House on Dead End Street is hidden as an Easter egg - it's an unrestored scan of a print they included as a bonus while they are working on a restored version.

How do we check the website for their products? I just keep on getting the Black Friday sale is over for every link I try.

They are no doubt recovering. It usually takes a few days. To me, they could leave the website open and just say a week delay on orders...etc...but not my business.

I picked up Dracula's Great Love for $14.99. My copy is faded and not the proper ratio. It's been nice getting these restored Naschy films this last year or so.

  23. Has there been any update on where the restoration process is at? I have the original deluxe DVD issue, but might be amenable to an upgrade...

IMHO the easter egg is a very poor copy with the sound out of sync. However, the movie Corruption is pretty good, so I don't think it is a big loss to get it just for that. True it is porn, but it is actually a decent movie.

I haven't seen any updates, but I could very well have missed them. I have the Barrel DVD as well, so the warts-and-all Easter egg was more of a "nice to have" than something to get real excited about.
