Well, I tweeted at them not to do another "Mystery titles" Anthology, and it looks like it paid off. Just dodged an expensive bullet. Can't believe "Thrust" remains untouched by any audiophile labels! (Y'all can thank me later. )
VMP of new Fleet Foxes is up. $40, ships in Feb. 2500 copies. Crack up only had 1500 copies and went fast.
There was also a 'red clay' version that was supposed to be limited to 500 but eventually they removed the 500 and just said limited. Some people are not happy about that. I just went with the VMP version because it was cheapest for me due to shipping.
Missed the red one, but quite happy with the ocean blue. Seems like a better match for the cover photo and album name, imo. In any case, looks like the signed insert option is gone now too...
I wonder if the VMP pressing of the new Fleet Foxes will be worth the extra $10... I assume not really. Either way, I'm super excited for the album! Was there a release date mentioned for the vinyl?
Yeah, the shadiness around the limited quantities puts a damper on this release but I'm excited nonetheless. Grabbed the red clay as well as the ocean blue signed print version. VMP wasn't different enough from the ocean blue to warrant going that route, let alone paying $5 more. I don't really care for colored vinyl but when it's the same price as the black version, might as well pick up something that looks nice.
Well it’s $35.31 from FF’s site using media mail vs $40 shipped from VMP as a member so for $4.69 more, I do like the mock up on VMPs site. If it looks like the mock up I’ll keep the VMP with the signed print and sell the copy from FFs site.
I would of preferred to buy from the band website but they wanted 25 bucks US for shipping. Made it 55 vs 40 for VMP. Release is Feb 5, 2021..gonna have to wait a while!
So some more clarity (maybe) from a member on Reddit who heard back from customer service re: the 500 marbled red clay copies. Basically looks like they decided to press more of the red clay, bumped it up to 1000, but supposedly they will be "signed" - guessing it will be a signed print and not necessarily the cover like the ocean blue version. And at least another colored version - clear - as an Indie store exclusive. So I think we're sitting on at least 5 versions (with quantities)? Black Red Clay (1000) Ocean Blue (2000 signed print copies...unknown total ocean blue) VMP (2500) Indie exclusive clear (unknown) ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
I must have missed that announcement. I think the MOV pressing is still in print, but this may possibly better it.
Doesn't look like VMP is giving the digital download of the Fleet Foxes album with a purchase of the vinyl like you get from buying it from the band's own site.
They've been doing them for a while. The funny (or not) part is you don't even have to be a Spotify member to buy them. They send out generic links, which invariably get posted somewhere, and anyone can buy one from the link. This "Spotify exclusive" was sold direct on the Fleet Foxes label site.
