Actually, that's a good point. Back in the 60's I picked up "The Smothers Brothers Golden Hits - Vol 2". Of course, there never was a Vol 1. (But it is probably their best album...an entire new concert and in great stereo).
IIRC that's when I saw no vol.2 coming that I opted for the Edsel collection (2fer sets of complete albums with bonus tracks)
Steven Wilson's Unreleased Electronic Music Vol. 1 (he even compiled vol. 2 but where the hell is it??)
Yep. Sadly no subsequent volumes. But the various “45th Anniversary” box sets did include some of the shows that were intended for the scrapped Bootleg Series, so it sort of lived on in another form.
"The Complete Loma Singles Vol. 1" - announced by Real Gone Music in 2017 as "the first of four 2-CD collections"; but Volume 2 has yet to appear - The Complete Loma Singles: Vol. 1 (2 -CD Set)
Not really an album but a box set that was released in 2002. Volume 2 never followed. Instead, we got a comprehensive 17 CD career-spanning box in 2020 that pretty much makes this volume 1 box redundant with the exception of the excellent notes in the book. Iona – The River Flows: Anthology Volume 1 Label: Open Sky – 1902612 Format: CD, Album, Reissue, Remastered CD, Album, Reissue CD, Album, Reissue CD, Album All Media, Compilation, Limited Edition Country: UK, Europe & Japan Released: 2002 Genre: Rock Style: Prog Rock
Martin Phillipps (The Chills) released this gem in 1999. We are still waiting patiently for a Volume Two. Martin Phillipps – Sketch Book: Volume One Label: Flying Nun Records – FNCD415 Format: CD, Album Country: New Zealand Released: 1999 Genre: Rock Style: Alternative Rock, Indie Rock
I'm not a Godley & Creme (10cc) expert but I don't think we ever saw a volume 2 of this one... Godley & Creme – The History Mix Volume 1 Label: Polydor – 825 981-2 Format: CD, Album Country: Europe Released: Genre: Electronic Style: Synth-pop
The Freeman tape would gave been perfect for the Loaded 45th set. Not only is it one of the precious few uncirculating VU tapes known to be “out there,” the brief excerpts he shared online prove it’s far more listenable than Second Fret. I wonder if they tried to negotiate for it?
Not sure. If Cale is heavily involved in VU, Inc. dealings, seems there would not be much incentive (personally, for them), since neither he nor Mo are on the Freeman Max's material. Even though it's a historic piece. Would be great if it showed up gray-market somewhere else, or they sell the tapes to someone who wants to make it happen themselves. Definitely sounds like it's recorded with more thought to positioning the recorder than the Polk tape was. Maybe it could be the the new jewel to a comprehensive VU Live box set. That's the only way I'd see it being worth it for Cale/Tucker to want to see it out.
May be a rarely mentioned band here, but Limp Bizkit released The Unquestionable Truth - Part 1 in 2005 but never followed it up, instead going back to the same old macho-nu-metal that they did before.
Not as far as I can tell. "Kronikles" is not titled "Volume 1" or whatever anyway, so it's not a fit for the thread...
Grace Potter & The Nocturnals - Vaulturnal Vol. 1 The website http://www.vaulturnal.com is now dead so I guess it will remain that way. It could have been a nice series like the Grateful Dead's Dick's Picks, Dave Matthews' Live Trax or Springsteen's series of archive live albums, but it wasn't to be. Fortunately there's also the internet archive.
