Walmart color vinyl

Had to drop by Walmart to get a few things yesterday. Walked by the music section and they already had copies of "Dirt" by Alice in Chains on the shelf. Too early, no?

I picked this one up a few months ago. Mine sounds great, but it does have a small bit of wave warp. I originally had this on cassette way back, which is why I picked it up. These seem to be the same versions I remember. Really good songs.

 

Minor warp on mine as well. Sounds great to me. Insanely popular compilation when it first came out many moons ago.

 

Damn, I was hoping they'd have done the 'foil' cover, but oh well. I'm still looking forward to it.

 

Not a Walmart color vinyl but has anyone else noticed the Walmart exclusive Van Halen box set is out of stock? Was this limited and is now sold out or will they re-press?

 

Unfortunately, my copy had a defect in the vinyl and I asked for a replacement copy. Walmart sent another one, but was defective too. I asked for another replacement, but they would only provide a refund. After thinking about it, the LP does not sound that great so I will pass on finding another one.

 

Totally understand and would have done the same. It will be out there for some time I'm sure. You'll eventually grab a good one without thought.

 

For the record (no pun intended), I did not say never...

 

What’s the defect?

 

The first one had an ugly discolored spot of something in the vinyl that would not come off. The other had an issue on the last track. Again something in the vinyl. I rarely send a record back, but if I am paying full price it should be a clean pressing.

 

So neither had any impact on the sound?

 

The first one yes, but not the second one. Both effected value of the LP.

 

Any word on whether these sound especially good?

'Home Alone' Christmas album on translucent red vinyl.

 

Haven't heard. I've got originals and no room in my collection for any additional colored pressings.

 

Same mastering/cuts as all of the Queen studio album vinyl pressings since 2015. Half-speed cut by Miles Showell using the 2011 Bob Ludwig digital masters. Opinions vary on the 2011 masters. Generally folks think they are EQ'd nicely, but there is some compression.

 

Been looking around for a Stone Temple Pilots "Purple" made in Germany pressing but only see the Italian ones now. I'm currently bidding on one, would love to get it!

 

Anybody recently buy a copy of "Purple" on Walmart's website? Wondering if it's a shot in the dark to maybe get a German pressing sent instead of an Italian one

 

I've been meaning to chime-in... while I don't have both to direct compare. I ended up with the Italian for both STP albums, and have no complaints.
