So much for "God of Thunder". We're down to 3 - pick the one weakest link!

Discussion: have you heard any covers of "Destroyer" songs? Are there any you'd like to hear done by specific other artists?

    EXILED TRACKS:

    "God of Thunder"
    "Do You Love Me"
    "Flaming Youth"
    "Beth"
    "Sweet Pain"
    "Great Expectations"
    "Rock and Roll Party"

OK, campers, rise and shine, and don't forget your booties cause it's cold out there... ("Detroit Rock City" again, obviously)

Covers of KISS Destroyer songs are pretty rare.

  8. This is a tough one, as all three are textbook ‘70s rock anthems, but in this context I’ll go with “Detroit“ because that extended intro slows down getting to the actual song.

As for the DQ, I’ll flip it on its head - here’s the original version of “King of the Nighttime World”, which was recorded by Kim Fowley protégés the Hollywood Stars in 1974 but not released for 40 years. It was marginally tweaked by Stanley and Ezrin for inclusion on Destroyer, but I can’t really hear how they earned a credit.

Despite voting for Shout It Out Loud, I still like the song despite hearing it hundreds of times in the last 45 years... also like the Hollies song it's based on as well as Wicked Lester's cover

Shout It Out Loud's go to go this time, hasn't it? Possibly not. :)

As far as covers go, there's an excellent version of Detroit Rock City on Hayseed Dixie's KISS covers album, Kiss My Grass and the inessential but fun tribute album Spin The Bottle has four Destroyer songs:

    DRC - Dee Snider
KIng Of The Night Time World - Fozzy
God Of Thunder - Buzz Osborne
    Shout It Out Loud

Irrelevant here but the best track on it, to my ears, is Tommy Shaw's Love Gun.

Detroit Rock City. The song has always been a little overrated in my opinion. A little. I like the demo more. Maybe it's because I've heard the final version so many times.

Let me open by saying I don't know for sure the details of KOTNTW but there have been other instances where KISS has taken some credit for songs they didn't write.

If I had to guess, Stanley and Ezrin made some sort of financial exchange with Fowley and Anthony to include their names as writers? Of course, I could also have no clue what I'm talking about.

    Say goodbye to the KING....

I've heard covers of some of these songs, nothing I recall as being particularly great.

Overrated? Nah, it's going to win this poll and it's probably KISS' best song.

I chose "Shout It Out Loud" as the weakest link.

The other two are at least original ideas (decent enough tunes as far as I'm concerned) whereas Shout It Out Loud is a deliberate attempt to recapture the popularity of "Rock and Roll All Night".

Just to clarify, are voting for the song that is the weakest and therefore remains on the last until all others eliminated?

Vote for the weakest track until all tracks are eliminated except one. The last one standing is the winner, the one the consensus chose as the "strongest" track on the album.
