"Here Today" isn't, so we're down to 3.

    Pick the ONE weakest link!

DISCUSSION: where do you rank "Tug Of War" in the McCartney discography?

    THAT SONG IS DONE:
    -Here Today
    -Ballroom Dancing
    -Pound Is Sinking
-Dress Me Up As a Robber
    -What's That You're Doing?
    -Somebody Who Cares
    -Be What You See (Link)
    -Get It
    -Ebony and Ivory

Tug this time (but could be Take -- they are both about equal).

Ranking -- top quarter percentile for sure.

    Voted off Tug Of War.

I rate the album in the highest tier of Macca pure solo albums (outside of the Beatles and Wings).
Loved it at the time and I don't think he's made an album as good as it since.

    "Tug Of War". Again.

I rank the album in the middle of the pack, if we're including solo and Wings. I don't like it as much as I like most of the Wings LPs, but it's his best album of the '80s and holds its own against a fair number of albums he's done since.

"Take It Away"...although a great song.

I would rank it somewhere in the middle of his catalogue.

    "Tug Of War"

DQ?: Within these tiers/levels f greatness the albums are listed chronologically..

My toppermost of the poppermost top tier Macca would be-
"Ram", "Band On The Run" & "Flaming Pie"

In the very crowded second tier is where "Tug Of War" would end up... roughly equal, although today I'd put "Back To The Egg" & "Venus & Mars" at the front of this pack-
"Venus & Mars", "Back To The Egg", "Tug Of War", "Flowers In The Dirt", "Off The Ground", "Driving Rain", "Chaos & Creation In The Backyard", "Memory Almost Full", "Electric Arguments", "New" & the less original material, mostly covers "Run Devil Run"

3rd Tier is "McCartney" & "Red Rose Speedway" as well as "Choba CCCP".

4th tier- "Wings Wild Life", "Wings At The Speed Of Sound", "London Town", "Egypt Station" & "McCartney III"

5th tier- "McCartney II", "Pipes Of Peace" & "Press To Play"

Well, it's Macca's best album of the 80's, I know that. Where it ranks; hang on.
    (...)
    I'll say top five.

Going with "Take It Away" again... I like it, but "Tug Of War" and "Wanderlust" are my two favorites on the album.

I'm a little conflicted on the album overall. It contains a bunch of my very favorite McCartney songs. But it also contains a few of my least favorites too.

For me, it's kind of mid-tier Macca. I don't hold it in as high regards as others. But it's solid.

3 right choices, all great songs but I chose Take It Away. You can tell McCartney tried hard on this record, but it's not my go to Macca album much prefer the homeamade charms of the McCartney albums, Ram, Pie, etc
Saying that it contains top tier songs, but it's production has dated slightly and too polished to my ear.
Just below the top 5 of his records which is still a great achivement.

    Man, that’s not fair:laugh:
Nevertheless, I went with the title track.

I took away “Take It Away”.

I respect the arrangement but the song is a bit smoothie show biz for my taste.

Behind every Wings album except Wild Life and on a par with Wings at the Speed of Sound. I like Wings !!

Same as last round, Tug Of War is losing the battle for my heart..

DQ: I would rank it towards the lower end of my top tier. I can't be more exact because my rankings are not static...

    Wanderlust needs to wander.

I much prefer the recent, much-maligned McCartney abums.

Tug Of War is not his worst album, but it's a long, long way from being his best.

    Tug.

It’s one of his best albums. It’s patchy, but so are rest of ‘em!

I’d say it’s his strongest album of the 80s at least.

I'd probably rank it second to Ram. Maybe Back to the Egg can overtake it if I'm in the mood, but TOW was my first Paul album and I've loved it from day 1.

I voted "Tug" and tied it up.

I think this is his best 80s LP- just a smidge behind Flowers In The Dirt. Top 10 tier for me.
