    Sorry, "Partyup!" You deserved better. This is getting tough. As in "which of my babies will I kill first so one might survive," tough!

    Partyup. I love the vocal coda and the rest of the song is funky, but not strong enough to carry on past this round.

    I've only ever owned one copy of Dirty Mind on CD, and got it a little under 5 years ago after Prince passed away.

    “Partyup”

    DQ: Only the CD. I think there’s been only one edition.

    Partyup. For the third time.

    Just one, an original West German vinyl pressing.

    Me too! I wanted a copy since 1980 but never got around to it. I'd get promo 12"era from the early era pre-"Purple Rain," but the first Prince album I ended up buying was "1999." But I finally got "Dirty Mind" on a used CD [I'd never seen a used CD of this title] just six days after Prince died. Flabbergasted at my fortune since at that point there was little or no Prince music on CD out there to be had much less the album that [deservedly] got a lead rave in one of the few issues of Rolling Stone I ever read. I had started getting twitchy about not having any Prince on CD for about a decade earlier and in 2015 I ordered a copy of 'Ultimate" and then the dam burst. I started making it happen.

    Sorry, Party Up.

    I’ve had 3 copies of DM over the years. A WG budget pressing from about 1985. I replaced it on CD probably by the end of the decade. I then saw the error of my ways and purchased another 80’s WG pressing in the last 10years or so.

    Hope we get a super deluxe edition one day. Love this album. Top 3 Prince for me.

    Anyone else think "Partyup" sounds like it should be on "Controversy" instead of "Dirty Mind"?

    All the other tracks on "DM" are about partying and sex and love, whereas despite the title, "Partyup" is more of a social commentary.

    There's a lot more of that style commentary on "Controversy", so "Partyup" always seemed a little out of place on "DM"...

    Usually every album has an outlier to the "next artistic phase" and "Partyup" sure fit the bill to a "T" for "Controversy."

    What "1999" track(s) do you think pointed toward "Purple Rain", and what on "Controversy" pointed toward "1999"?

    "1999"->"Purple Rain" - "Little Red Corvette"
    "Controversy" -> "1999" - "Sexuality"

    Good picks!

    "Do Me Baby" might be another that points toward "1999"...
