Nouvelle Vague do some interesting and very different covers of New Wave songs - allegedly they had never heard the originals before recording.

    Including this one

Maybe I should have said "Unexpected" rather than "Weird" maybe the mods can amend?

Underrated Dutch prog-metal band, Lemur Voice did a very cool cover of Michael Jackson's "Beat It", including a couple of jazz breaks (with trumpet solo).

German fusion/jazz-metal band, Panzerballett have done many covers in their own, maniacal way. Most of their stuff are originals.

Their level of musicianship is off the charts. They take well know songs, and play them in different keys, time signatures, etc.

I have a fondness for this one, there is something unexpected in the sparse, half-time approach...

    An all-Latin-version of KRAFTWERK songs!
    All done rather 'straight', too!
