1977. I was 14 and my older cousin took me to see Yes at the Fabulous Forum in Los Angeles. I remember even back then I thought that Donovan was an odd choice of opener. I was psyched that they played Starship Trooper, because that my favorite song of theirs. It was the beginning of a long and illustrious concert career that continues to this day, with Guided By Voices and Built to Spill tickets in hand for September and November.

That happened when they played Carrowinds one year. They played there every year (and I usually went), but I don't remember which year exactly.

Jethro Tull's Passion Play tour in 1973. I was 16. Awestruck, but not so much as my next concert shortly thereafter: Santana and McLaughlin on the Love Devotion Surrender tour. Both in Seattle. Mind officially blown, and still recovering 40+ years later!

The Swing was such an awesome dump of a venue. I saw so many great shows there, including my first Grateful Dead show.

Trust me, you are quite spoiled to have seen them in a venue that small. :)

I want to say I saw them at what is now PNC Music Pavillion on the northern side of Charlotte. So I guess it wasn't that time around.

Oh dear. I was a bit older than you, but I also had to sit through the Oak Ridge Boys because of family. The opening act was George Lindsey. Sorry country fans, but you're something I'll never be.

Just shy of 13. 1977, Vegas, Boz Scaggs with Little River Band opening. My cousin and his girlfriend had an extra ticket, her friend cancelled. I just happened to be staying at his house, and when they couldn't find any other friends to go, he decided what the hell, let's take the runt.

I loved every second of that show. Boz was still touring Silk Degrees and LRB was just starting to break in the States.

I don't know how old I was at my first live show because I don't know when the show was. I have vague memories of my parents taking me to Air Supply and Billy Joel in the 80s.. I saw Ringo in 1992. The first show that I went to as my choice, and what I consider the real beginning of my concert-going history, was REM in June 1995 when I was 15.

Er, I think that you meant Gaelic Park. Funny thing, I've lived in the Bronx for all of my 67 years and I never went to Gaelic Park.

Yep, I saw a lot of good shows there like Judas Priest on the Stained Class tour. Plus, I vaguely recall seeing Bob Hope there during an Orange Show.
