So strange to read some folks’ album choices. Some of which I adore and can’t fathom anyone not loving. Really amazing records. I guess we all have very different backgrounds and ears.
Beatles - Revolver. I’m not saying it’s bad but I can not enjoy it for some reason. Strange, how these things happen
Well... I'll say this about that. There's not one Zeppelin album I like from start to finish but all have songs I like very much.
I mistakenly picked up a VU & Nico tribute album, thinking it was a new Kurt Vile album. He had one song. The album is a real stinkaroo.
I think I made it through the six Beatles Anthology CDs once. Cured me of the desire to hear demos and outtakes by anybody.
'Layla and other assorted love songs'- Dereck and the Dominoes, just goes on and on and on.....must give it a try again one day.
Most of mine are not really bad albums, just that I don't feel like listening to them more than once after I've heard them
Too many to mention, some going back to the 80s Sone of those 80s ones are sitting at my house almost brand new Off the top of my head, Level 42, "World Machine" Scritti Politti, "Cupid & Psyche 85" Thompson Twins, "Here's To Future Days" Most others I got from the dollar bin, Gregg Allman, "Laid Back" Animals, "Animalization" (might give that one a 2nd try) Association, "Stop Your Motor" Hampton Grease Band, "Music To Eat" Stephen Stills, "SS2", "Thoroghfare Gap " and " Illegal Stills" Crosby/Nash first 2 albums ( Self titled and "Wind on the Water") Poco first 3 albums
Extra Texture- George Harrison Psychedelic Pill - Neil Young Angel Clare - Art Garfunkel Diamond Dogs - Bowie Red Octopus - Jefferson Starship Once was more than enough.
Pet Sounds is one of the biggest "growers" ever, I thought it was over praised the first time I heard it, now it's my all time favorite pop/rock album! There's so Much going on, you hear something new every time you listen, which just makes it better and better each time
I bought The Psychedelic Furs Book Of Days maybe a year after it came out. I found a used copy. I loved their first four albums. Midnight To Midnight was just ok and by then my tastes had changed. Listened to it twice and felt the songs were really weak and dull. Butler as a lyricist had lost what he had. I didn't buy World Outside because of my reaction to BOD. Two decades later I bought both of them. My opinion of BOD remained the same but WO was better. I ended up selling both...then bought them yet again because I wanted to have all of their albums regardless of how I felt about them. BOD has always occupied the bottom spot in my ranking. Regardless of them losing their soul with Midnight To Midnight, I still liked that one better.
I think the remix really helped the overall sound of the album. That said...will agree with you that's it's bland and listless. But is sounds better!
